🌊 The Cong Galway Sailing Race is back for 2026! ⛵

We are thrilled to announce that registration is officially OPEN for Europe’s oldest inland sailing race. Prepare to test your mettle on the beautiful waters of Lough Corrib for a day of tradition, tactics and triumph.

⛵ New Season, New Ride! Safety First at GCSC! ⛵

The winter break is over, and we are thrilled to welcome everyone back to Galway City sailing Club! To make sure our 2026 season is safe AND successful, here is what you need to know:

👉 Refresh Your Knowledge: Please re-familiarise yourself with our safety procedures. You can view the full Safety Statement and Child Safeguarding guidelines on our website: https://galwaycitysailingclub.com/about/child-safeguarding/
(It's also in the clubhouse training room in the RED FOLDER!)

👉 Save the Date: A compulsory Safety Briefing session is coming soon in the dinghy pen. Keep an eye on our feed for the exact date!

👉 Safety Boat Duty is Essential: Without a safety boat, we cannot sail. 🚤 All members are required to sign up for at least a couple of shifts on the 2026 rota, which will be announced soon. Please mark your calendars and be ready to swap with fellow members if you can’t make your slot!

🎉 And the best news of all? We have a brand-new RIB for safety boat duty! 🤩

Let’s get ready for a fantastic, safe season out on Galway Bay. We can’t wait to see you all on the water!

⛵ Connacht–Ulster Schools Team Racing Championship at GCSC

A fantastic day of racing took place yesterday at Galway City Sailing Club for the Connacht–Ulster Schools Team Racing Championship.

Congratulations to Coláiste Éinde, who took the overall win and well done to Colasanctius, who finished as worthy runners-up after some great racing.

A big thank you to all the schools who travelled and competed, and to the many volunteers, race officers and helpers who made the event possible. Days like this don’t happen without a great team behind the scenes.

Special thanks to our friends at Galway Bay Sailing Club for their support and invaluable assistance in delivering the event.

Well done to everyone involved – brilliant sailing and a great atmosphere on the water. 👏⛵

Looking for an active, fun and rewarding way for your child to spend Easter? Join us for five fantastic days on the water from 6–10 April 2026 (Mon–Fri, 09:30–16:30).

Our Irish Sailing accredited course is open to ages 10–18, with programmes for:
• Beginner to Improver (10–12 years)
• Intermediate to Advanced (12–18 years)

Whether your child is new to sailing or ready to progress to the next level, this course builds real skills, confidence and friendships in a safe and supportive environment. Alongside time on the water, sailors benefit from our dedicated training room for shore-based learning and theory sessions.
