Galway Bay fm newsroom – A local cycling campaign group has called for a review of the city’s traffic light system.
The Galway Cycling Campaign argues the network needs to be altered to enable sensors to detect cyclists, and not just cars.
It says it is unjust and unworkable to expect cyclists to stop for all red lights and any plan to introduce on-the-spot fines are premature.
Group spokesperson Shane Foran says currently, cyclists have no choice but to ignore a red light in the city.
