Renmore U17s finished their season in the Cup final on Sunday. Unfortunately the result didn't go the lads way. This is their 2nd cup final in 3 seasons and the lads have also been promoted this season to Div 1, making it back to back promotions. A great team that's improving every year as we all look forward to next season in Div 1 🇱🇻⚽️💪

Renmore AFC’s remarkable unbeaten run spanning more than a year finally came to an end on Sunday in Eamonn Deacy Park, as the Division 6 champions were edged out 4-2 by Division 5 winners Tuam Celtic AFC in a thrilling and fiercely competitive U-14 Cup Final.

Played in front of a great crowd, the game was a cracking advertisement for schoolboy football, with plenty of battling spirit, quality and talent on display from both sides throughout.

Renmore found themselves 2-1 down at the break after conceding right on the stroke of half time. Despite the setback, Aidan produced a superb strike from distance to get Renmore on the scoresheet, while goalkeeper Liam pulled off an excellent penalty save to keep his side firmly in the contest.

The second half continued at a frantic pace and Renmore battled back brilliantly. Another wonder strike from Aidan drew the sides level at 2-2, sparking hopes that Renmore could continue their incredible unbeaten streak. Liam once again came to the rescue with a second penalty save to keep the game alive.

However, Tuam Celtic regained the lead to make it 3-2 before adding a fourth goal in the dying moments as Renmore pushed desperately for an equaliser.

While the result did not go their way, Renmore can be immensely proud of a fantastic season that saw them crowned Division 6 champions and showcase huge determination, quality and potential on the biggest stage in Galway schoolboy football.

A huge thank you also to our sponsors, Stevie's Garden Machinery for their continued support throughout the season.
