The 110th edition All-Ireland Schools took place at Tullamore at the weekend. The club had 3 representatives. Isaac and Ryan Vickers and Kevin O Shea.
Kevin was one of the standout performers of the day winning the Intermediate Javelin by over 10 metres. An hour later he lined up in the Discus. A foul in the first round didn’t deter him and was in second place coming into the final round. His last throw of just under 47 metres added almost a metre onto his personal best where he took his second gold of the day, a very impressive achievement.
Ryan Vickers was in a great duel with fellow Kerry athlete Jack Collins in the 800. Ryan took the lead with 250 metres to go but the fast finishing Tralee athlete powered home down the home straight to take the victory with Ryan taking second place. For good measure he finished 6th in the 400 metres and was part of the St. Brendans team that finished 4th in the relay.

Isaac was in the senior 800. Isaac who is slowly recovering from injury ran an excellent first lap and was well in contention with 150 metres to go but the lack of training took its toll in the home straight in a very fast race.
Matthew Dunlea was our sole runner in the Munster U-13 championships on Monday in Templemore. Matthew finished 4th in his heat of the 80 metres and ran an excellent sub 2 minutes in the 600. Excellent performances for his first Munster Championships.
Well done to all !

Last weekend Aodhan O'Shea made the long trip to Waterford to compete in his first Munster Championships. In a huge field of athletes he finished 6th with a fine throw of under 19 metres. This is a massive improvement of almost 7 metres from his performance in the Kerry championships.
Further away in Carlow David Kenny made a welcome return to competition in the Leinster championships where competing as a guest. He won the 5K event in a very quick time on 19 minutes in very hot conditions.
The very popular Track and Field Live took place in Castleisland on Wednesday. Daniel Woods, Ollie Moriarty, Liam O Dowd, Erika McTear and Matthew Dunlea put in some fine performances.
Well done to all our athletes on their efforts

On Sunday 3rd The Boys started first with heats of the Sprints, with 3 of the team, Ollie Moriarty, U9, Darragh Flynn and Justin Foley, both U10, making the Semi Finals and Ollie and Justin qualifying for their respective finals, super results and both just missing out on medals running 5th and 6th.
The afternoon saw the Girls get in on the action in the Long Jump and Javelin with Clodagh Edwards in her first ever competition, coming away with the U14 Girls Javelin Bronze Medal.
On the track it was the Sprint hurdles and the Distance events, and again a wonderful Bronze Medal, this time from Megan Pierce in the U13 Girls 60m Hurdles with Naoise Flynn a close 5th.
Less than an hour later the two were back in action over the 600m with them both running superb races and Naoise winning Gold in a very close finish, a really fantastic run, with Megan close behind in 5th.

At the county Seniors and relays last Sunday Harrison Joseph continued his fine form from last year winning the weight for distance and coming second in the shot. Ryan Vickers ran a very strong 400 metres coming in a close second in his first senior championships. We also had a Girls U 10 and U 12 relay team who produced fine performances but finished out of the medals

Well done to all of our Juveniles who raced, jumped and threw over the weekend.
It was great to see so many of you out there competing and having fun, loads of smiles and new challenges overcome.
