Today, Slaney Cycling Club’s Annual Coffee Spin took place in memory of one of the club’s members who sadly passed away. ☕️
Myles Kavanagh, known fondly as Mylie, sadly passed away in 2022 from an illness.
Mylie was a well-respected tour captain of the Slaney Cycling Club, earning a bronze medal in his age category in the gruelling Tour de France – The Marmott stage in 2010. 🚴♀️
A massive sporting enthusiast, he also had a number of accomplishments under his belt, including the completion of 13 Dublin City Marathons with a best time of three hours and 52 seconds. ⏰️
The spin begun at 9 a.m. with a start and finish in Kiltealy Hall, with the route taking the participants out towards Ballymurphy, Borris, Graiguenamanagh, Bagnelstown, Myshall, Kildavin and Bunclody. From here the route split, depending on the riders preference, to either take on the accent of Mount Leinster or continue straight on towards the Halfway House and home to Kiltealy. ⛰️
Participants enjoyed a beverage, pastries and chats in the Royal Oak in Bagnelstown. ☕️ 🍰
SCC would like to say thanks to everyone for coming out today & we look forward to seeing you all next weekend. 🚴♀️
Particular thanks to Mylie’s wife Kathleen & their daughter Tracy for seeing us off at Kiltealy Hall. 😊😊😊
