***SKRYNE TARA ADVANCE TO SEMI FINALS ***

Skryne Tara advanced to the NEFL Women's Shield semi final last night following a 5-2 victory away to Drogheda Town. Alison McCormack and Ciara Maguire had Skryne 2 in front by the half hour mark but Drogheda dug in and brought it back to 2-2 on 62 minutes.

Droghedas equaliser seemed to kick Skryne Tara back into life and they played some of their best football all season in the final 30 minutes. Orla Finnegan scored 2 brilliant goals (her first was a sight to behold) and Katie Cullen rounded off an excellent performance with her 4th goal of the season.

Everyone played their part in a brilliant team performance last night and while it's difficult to single out individuals, a special word of praise must go to the trio of Sarah Wogan, Linda Quinn and Alison McCormack who arrived from Slane Wanderers this season. Their leadership and experience was evident throughout this match and they have each proven to be valuable additions to our excellent squad.

We now await the draw to find out who we play in the last 4. With no game next week due to the bank holiday the girls are back in league action away to Torro on Monday 8th August.

***RESULT***
Skryne Tara bounced back from last week's defeat with an emphatic victory away to Drogheda Town this evening. The goals came from Orla Finnegan x4, Kate Thorpe x4, Katie Cullen x1 and Eimear Clarke with probably the pick of the bunch but this was very much a team display.

Sarah Wogan in goals and the back 3 of Rachel Whelan, Róisín O Dowd and Katie Ryan battled tirelessly to earn a clean sheet, Caragh Monaghan on her debut looked like she had played for years and she controlled midfield along with Eimear Clarke. Up front Alison McCormack played a vital role in linking up the play and was involved in much of the action. Rea Penders energy was priceless, particularly in the first 30 minutes when the game was at 0-0. She chased down defenders and won us possession high up the pitch multiple times and it was this pressure that lead to the break through on the half hour mark. Substitute Gráinne Hanly gave an excellent display when introduced and always looked calm and composed on the ball even though she was the youngest player on the pitch.

All in all a great night's work and we can now turn out attention to hosting Kinnegad next Monday, 11th July. All support most welcome 💛💙

***Match Result***

Skryne Tara suffered their 1st home defeat of the season at the hands of Albion Rovers on Monday evening. This was the 1st game back after the mid-season break but the Albion girls started strongly and looked like they had never been away. 2 brilliant strikes from midfielder Kate Callan had the visitors 2-0 up inside the opening 20 minutes. Skryne gradually grew into the game and just before the break they had a strong shout for a penalty turned away following a coming together between Albions keeper and the pacey Orla Finnegan.

Skryne began the second half on the front foot and were now causing the Albion rearguard problems. Kate Thorpe, Alison McCormack and Ciara Maguire all went close while the midfield duo of Eimear Clarke and Cia White worked tirelessly to keep the threat of Callan at bay. The breakthrough never arrived however and with the game in the closing minutes Megan McGrane scored a well taken goal on the counter attack to seal the victory for the Co. Louth side.

The result brought an end to our recent winning streak in the league but the side can now focus on bouncing back quickly with a game away to Drogheda Town on Monday 4th July.
