To anyone who knows Ian, you will know him as a wonderful PGA Professional, who always has time for everyone and would be there for everybody if anything was needed.
This is Ian’s story,
PGA Professional Ian St John’s life took a catastrophic turn in late August 2016.
Ian became paralyzed due to a spinal tumor. His wife Orla (who has MS, Multiple Sclerosis) was eight months pregnant at this time also. A truly devastating time in their young lives!
Eight months of brutal cancer treatment thankfully treated the cancer and thankfully Ian has been in remission since. Four subsequent months of intense rehabilitation at The National Rehabilitation Centre in Dun Laoghaire enabled Ian to “return” to life but in a vastly different way.
Ian, unfortunately had been left paralyzed for life.
Reluctantly but inevitably, Ian had to resign from his position as Head Professional and Director of Golf at Rush Links Golf Club.
Golf was not only Ian’s career but his hobby also. Unfortunately Paralysis took both of those away from him.
Ian playing golf again seemed an impossible dream until recently!
Paragolf (as seen in picture) is a machine used to allow people with paralysis to play golf again.
Needless to say Ian is very excited at the prospect at getting back on the course!
The machine is not cheap, costing €35,000.
Alongside the day at Faithlegg on March 30th, we have also set up a GoFund me page.
We hope that by setting up this page, people will be able to contribute what they can to the purchase of this machine to help Ian. This is the link to the page below👇

This machine will not only allow Ian to play golf again but also enable a significant improvement in his physical and mental health.
The format for the Day at Faithlegg is as follows:
Looking forward to seeing you and having a great day out for a good cause.
Thank you once again for taking the time to read this email and please share to all your contacts.
