What a privilege it was to attend Grand Master Iwasaki's Kobudo course that was held in the Athboy dojo last Saturday 29th March and featured Jo-do and Iai-do.
Apart from the practical instruction using Jo and Bokuto, Sensei Iwasaki gave us very interesting information regarding the beginning stance that was used in original budo compared to modern Japanese budo.
He informed us of the importance of Kendo for Hironori Ōtsuka, the creator of the Wado style of karate.
We learned about the different types of sticks, the origin of Jo-do, how the Japanese sword differed from that used by Europeans and other groups, the basic techniques for using Jo and Bokuto including safety for Iai-do and so much more! And of course, so many stories from ancient Japan. This was truly an unforgettable experience for which we are very grateful.

We are happy to share some pictures taken from the wonderful seminar with Saiko Shihan Yoshihiko Iwasaki with lots of technical details and explanations.
Many thanks to all who attended the 2-days course and supported the successful event, nonetheless to the amazing welcome and hospitality of the organizers.

Summer Camp in Davod (Hungary) - 2-6 July 2024

It has been a successful summer camp with a lot of practice, dedication to this fascinating discipline and joyful moments as well.
But, first, we want to open with an extract from the Saiko Shihan Y. Iwasaki's message that summarizes well his teaching efforts and those of all the members who attended the event.
We had the participation of a nice group of from Rome who worked in harmony with the organizers/Senseis Eva Dallos and Tamás Verebélyi.

​"I had another great time with the Wado Juku members.
It was a success and we enjoyed our days in Hungary.

There were a lot of participants, over 50 from the local club of Mohacs, Budapest and 5 attendants from Italy this year.

Grading results: there are 37 new Kyu graded and 2 Dan graded students who attended the Friday and Saturday sessions.​..

I hope to see you next year to the Summer Camp 2025 and wish to train authentic Wado karate.

Some interesting point of the course:

1 - Find the right distance when working with the partner
2 - Learn to use the right quantity of energy and right level of softness that must be controlled by our minds
3 - Concept of Tai-sabaki as a stealth technology
4 - Use of the tape that helps train the Tai-sabaki movements and improve the kumite skills as well
5 - Rohai: this Wado-Juku kata can be performed for warm-up and cool down with the aim of helping our health.
