Maca is a powerful little superfood from the high Andes mountains of Peru has been used traditionally for thousands of years, yet it’s still flying under the radar in many places. Also known as Peruvian ginseng, Maca (Lepidium meyenii) is a cruciferous vegetable packed with nutrients, adaptogenic compounds, and a unique profile that supports energy, hormones, and vitality.
Why people are turning to Maca:
1. It may boost libido & sexual health - Multiple studies show it can improve sexual desire in both men and women, support erectile function, and help with certain types of sexual dysfunction (even SSRI-related issues), often without dramatically altering hormone levels.
2. It mat support fertility - Particularly in men, research suggests improvements in s***m count, motility, and quality.
3. It may ease menopausal symptoms - Many women report fewer hot flashes, better sleep, and improved mood during the transition.
4. Enhance mood & energy - It may help reduce fatigue, support emotional wellbeing, and act as a gentle adaptogen to help the body handle stress.
As with any supplement, results vary and studies up to now have been on a smaller scale but the traditional use and growing body of evidence make it worth knowing about.
I’ve started offering Maca in tincture form because tinctures can offer excellent bioavailability and easy dosing compared to powders or capsules.
