Current task: trying to stay focused on my course while simultaneously going down a rabbit hole about the nature of the mind and human consciousness 😳

Behind the scenes im still refining the yoga student course, rewriting, reframing, adding, taking out sections of the course, and then boom im lost in contemplating who is it that is observing my thoughts.

I love this about yoga, the deeper layers that can really blow your mind. But also the very practical tools that I also used to keep myself comfortable and awake sitting for so long!!

I think sometimes people believe yoga class is just about showing up and copying what the teacher is doing. But really, over time, the practice should help you understand yourself better.

Asking questions like.......
“Why does this breathing make me feel calmer?”
“Why does that practice make me feel agitated?”
“Why do I always hold tension in my jaw?”
“Why do I feel more emotional after slowing down?”

Not just learning poses or techniques, but slowly learning your own patterns and needs.

And honestly, asking questions is a really GOOD thing. I love when people ask why we are doing something or tell me something felt strange for them. That awareness is a massive part of yoga.

These little cards are designed to offer a quick pause for breath in the middle of busy days, while waiting in the chemist, sitting at the doctor’s, or waiting for your coffee.

A tiny moment of mindfulness when you might need it most.

I see so many people putting off things that would genuinely improve their wellbeing. Booking in with a physio. Taking time to rest. Joining a class. Going to therapy. Learning something new. Doing anything that supports them physically or mentally.

And I often wonder if part of the reason is that we’ve been conditioned to value productivity more than wellbeing.

It can feel easier to spend money on something when there’s a visible return afterwards. A certificate. A promotion. A qualification. Something tangible that proves the investment was worthwhile.

But when the outcome is simply feeling better, moving better, understanding yourself more deeply, or improving your quality of life, people suddenly hesitate.

Maybe one of the most important shifts we can make is learning to see our wellbeing as valuable before it becomes useful to someone else.

Thank you to all who came to Anú Rising Together last night, such a beautiful way to move into the darker nights, with community & rest.
You can join the next circle on December 14th as we journey towards Winter Solstice.
My biggest takeaway from last night was how important rest is, and how much of a gift it is to the wolrd to show up as a well-rested person. We are nicer people when we are rested!!
