Most women know protein is important, but many are surprised to learn that as we age, our muscles become less responsive to its muscle-building effects.
At the same time, muscle loss naturally accelerates during perimenopause and menopause, making it harder to maintain strength, metabolic health and body composition.
This is why protein becomes even more important in midlife. Not only do we need to preserve muscle, but we also need to provide the body with the nutrients it needs to support healthy ageing, energy levels and blood sugar regulation.
In my latest website blog article I explore:
Why muscle loss accelerates in midlife
What anabolic resistance means
How protein supports metabolic health
Practical ways to optimise your protein intake
If you’re over 40, understanding this shift could change how you think about nutrition, strength and healthy ageing. Click on link in story for full read!
