👊 Coach Cyrus

A great effort from our athletes representing South Dublin Taekwondo at the Montenegro Open E1! 🇮🇪

🥈 Dyzile secured a fantastic silver medal in the Junior Female -46kg division, making her debut at this weight! After defeating British opposition in the semi-final, she faced a Serbian opponent in the final, finishing with a well-earned silver medal.

🥉 Sorena claimed bronze in the Cadet Male -33kg division following a strong quarter-final victory over Turkish opposition, before bowing out to an opponent from Saudi Arabia in the semi-final.

5️⃣ Nicholas finished in 5th place in the Cadet Male -33kg division, following a quarter-final defeat to Saudi Arabian opposition.

👏 A big thank you to Coach Cyrus for leading and supporting the team throughout the event!

Congratulations to all three athletes on their performances, continued commitment and dedication to competing internationally.

🇩🇪 Cologne, Germany
🥋 Kukkiwon International Taekwondo Master Qualification Course 2026

Over the weekend, South Dublin Taekwondo Coach Robert attended the WTA 세계태권도연수원 Kukkiwon International Taekwondo Master Qualification Course at the German Sport University, Cologne.

The course involved four intensive days of practical and theoretical training alongside Taekwondo practitioners from around the world. Assessments included a written examination, as well as practical examinations in basic techniques, poomsae and kyorugi.

The course was delivered by:

🥋 Theoretical Coach — Grand Master Choi Jung Ku
🥋 Poomsae Coach — Grand Master Kwon Hyung Nam
🥋 Kyorugi Coach — Master Lee D**g An
🎓 Special Lecture — Kukkiwon Vice President, Grand Master Ahn Jae Yeun

At the conclusion of the event, all attendees received Certificates of Participation. Coach Robert was also honoured to receive a Letter of Commendation and personalised belt from Vice President Grand Master Ahn Jae Yeun. 🙏

This month marks 18 years of South Dublin Taekwondo. Around the time the club was founded, Coaches Robert and Niamh attended a Kukkiwon seminar in Finland, keen to learn, upskill and find direction for the new club.

It was especially good to meet many of the same Finnish Taekwondo coaches again in Cologne. Eighteen years on, it felt like a real full-circle moment. 🌍🥋

At that first seminar, Niamh received a Letter of Commendation. Now, 18 years later, SDTKD is proud to have two. 🙏

Thank you to everyone at South Dublin Taekwondo for the continued support, and to Taekwondo Ireland for the opportunities and knowledge gained over many years.

Results will be issued in the coming weeks to determine who has qualified as a Kukkiwon Master.

🇩🇪 German Open – Day 2 | G1 Seniors

Erfan opened his competition with a strong victory over Haiti before his run was ended by German opposition in the following round.

There were also a number of other SDTKD connections in action. Coach Cyrus coached three World Taekwondo Refugee Team athletes (from .uk ), with two of them securing bronze medals. 🥉🥉

Páraic, originally from Boston and now training with Peak Performance Academy in London, stepped up to the −80kg division but was unable to progress beyond his preliminary contest.

Well done to everyone who competed and represented their teams throughout a strong weekend of international competition in Hamburg. 🇮🇪
