Dublin University Sub-Aqua Club Have you ever wondered what it feels like to breathe underwater? Are you waiting until your next tropical holiday to take the plunge?

Did you know that diving in Ireland is world famous for its underwater life, spectacular landscapes and sunken shipwrecks? Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned diver, Dublin University Sub-Aqua Club is a great way to pursue your scuba adventures! As the longest established and most active scuba diving club in Ireland, we can give you all the skills you need for scuba diving, and qualif

ications that are recognised worldwide. Thanks to our amazing volunteer instructors, diving with us is one of the cheapest ways to learn. Our training takes place every Monday and is always followed with a catch up in the pub. We run trips and events throughout the year, with weekly Dublin Bay dives and weekend trips around the country from May-October. We welcome all TCD students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) as well as staff. The craic on our annual Novice Trip to Galway is infamous and a big highlight among members old and new.

What’s the next best thing to diving? Charting and Position fixing! A few weekends ago our divers took it to the surface to master navigation, because if we can’t be under the water, we’ll be plotting exactly how to get back there 🗺️ 🐟

Nothing beats a Killary weekend for some proper novice dive training! 🤿 We had a great crew out learning new skills and drills.
Local pigs stole our lunches, and we spent the evenings “studying” some quality shark cinema 🦈

Thank you so much to those who participated, especially everyone who instructed, drove, and managed the dives. Couldn’t do it without you!

Oh oh what’s this? A pub quiz against Trinity Barbell to finally put to rest the age old question; which niche sports club is superior??

Well, even though we know DUSAC is the rightful winner, join us next Wednesday (12th November) at 6:30pm in the Lombard to help us secure that victory!

You can come as a group or by yourself, and yes, there will be a prize for first place 🫡

Today is Nudibranch Day aka. Sea Slug Day! There are over 3,000 known species of nudibranch in the world, with at least 96 recorded in Ireland. They are known for their brightly coloured “frills”. These frills are actually external respiratory organs (ie. their gills) and are usually feather-like with the bright colours for camouflage or warning predators.

These photos were taken off the coast of Ireland by one of our club members, Michael, with the first 5 being from the Skelligs and the last one being from St. John’s Point. The species are Fjordia brownie, Cadlina laevis and Polycera quadrilineata.

Thank you Michael for the beautiful photos, and make sure to look out for these little guys on your next dive!
