Happy 60th Birthday, Mum 🤍 🕊️

I can’t believe you would have been 60 today. It doesn’t feel real saying that. In my mind, you’re still exactly how I remember you.

Not a day goes by where I don’t think about you. I wish I could see you today, give you the biggest hug, and hear your voice just one more time. There’s so much I’d love to tell you.

Everything good in me started with you — the way I care for my family, the way I try to be strong, the way I show up for the people I love. That’s all you. I carry you with me in everything I do.
You were our superwoman, Mum — strong, selfless, and always putting everyone else first.

This Saturday we’re holding a charity event in your memory. It’s for you — to celebrate your life, to keep your name alive, and to help others the way you always would have. I hope I’m making you proud.

Isla will always know who her nan was. She’ll grow up hearing your stories, your sayings, and how special you were. And your grandson on the way will know you too. Your love runs through this family and always will. You’ll forever be part of us.

Hi Mum,
I can’t believe it’s been a year. I miss you every single day. There’s so much I wish I could tell you, so much I wish I could share with you — and the biggest thing is this: I’m having another child… and it’s a boy.

I wish more than anything you were here to see this, to hold him, to be part of his life. I know you would’ve been over the moon. I can already picture you smiling and saying something cheeky. Even though you’re not here in person, I know you’re watching over us, and I hope you’re proud.

Life feels different without you, but your love is still everywhere. I carry you with me in every decision, every memory, every moment. I hope this little boy grows up hearing all about you and feeling the love you left behind.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated and supported me in running the Royal Parks Half Marathon yesterday.

Together we’ve raised money for The Brain Appeal, an incredible charity that has done so much for my dear mum and so many others affected by brain injuries and conditions. Your generosity and encouragement meant the world to me — every step (even the painful ones today 😅) was worth it knowing it was for such an amazing cause.

I aimed for a 2:15 finish and came in at 2:19, but the real victory was running in honour of my mum and helping raise awareness and funds for the people and families this charity supports every day.

Thank you again to everyone who donated, shared, and cheered me on — I truly couldn’t have done it without you 💙

In 2014, my mum suffered a brain haemorrhage aged just 48 and underwent emergency surgery where half of her skull had to be removed to save her life. Against all odds, she made a remarkable recovery and after 13 months wearing a protective helmet, she underwent further surgery to have a titanium plate fitted.

Sadly, in 2018, my mum suffered another devastating frontal lobe haemorrhagic stroke. After weeks in intensive care and three further bleeds on the brain, her speech, mobility and cognitive function were severely affected. Her life changed overnight.

After being turned away from several units, we were blessed that UCLH accepted her into the incredible Queen Square Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit. With their expert care and her determination, my mum fought hard and made progress that gave us precious extra years together. After 13 months in hospital, she returned home with 24-hour care, where we were able to make so many special memories. I’ll always be grateful to Queen Square for giving us that time.

Sadly, we later lost my mum to her condition. Me and my family could also carry the gene, which makes this cause deeply personal.

On 12th October 2025, I’ll be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in memory of my mum — to honour her strength and to support the vital research, treatment, and rehabilitation services that change lives for families like mine.
