Day 1 of our weekend in the Lake District.
I'm delighted to say that the vast majority of the group had been out with Mountaintrails before, some a number of times..😎

Today we headed up England's highest peak SCAFELL PIKE (977m).
A cloudy start soon cleared to give us some amazing views across the Lakeland fells.

Great effort by everyone today. 👏

Wednesday walkabout in the Wicklow Mountains saw us heading over Black Hill and on to Billy Byrne's Gap in mist and persistent drizzle.
The plan was to check out a large landslip on the hillside nearby.

The ground near the Gap at the top of the slide is deeply cracked and unstable.
Any significant rain with definitely set off another landslip hereabouts.

This is bad news ecological, as much of the debris is loose peat, which will wash into the nearby streams releasing carbon as it does so.

It's officially the start of autumn, and already the hills are turning golden brown as they pull on their autumn cloak.
The transformation from summer seemed almost instant, as the seasons turn again.. 🍂

Small team on our BENBAUN guided hike today.
Suprising good conditions given the national warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Great to see these guys summit Galway's highest point in fine style..👏

A cloudy, but thankfully dry, day for our guided hike of MWEELREA mountain today.
Sadly there was little in the way of views or photo opportunities..🙄

Big well done and thank you to the guys who turned out in less than ideal conditions, and a big shout out to Ger Coneelly for the excellent guiding.. 🙏 👏

Back in the Wicklow Mountains today for a 1-day INTRODUCTION TO NAVIGATION course.

A great group of super keen hikers, getting into the mountains, and wanting to get some important navigation skills under their collective belts..💪

Good craic along the way and some new skill sets learned and put into practice.
