We’re coming to the end of summer holidays, so it’s a great time to see what our sailors have been up to over the last few months.

The first image shows past and present Trinity sailors on Nantucket. Across the three sailing organisations on the island, many of our members have been plying their trade this summer (more on them later).

Last year’s club captain Harry Twomey has been busy this summer, competing in numerous events across Europe. He has recorded some fantastic results, including a ninth in J70 Corinthian Worlds, an eight among Corinthian sailors at J70 Europeans, and a second place in the Commodores Cup at the Royal Yacht Squadron.

Our Nantucket sailors have also been sailing J70s, with some footage attached. They’ve been competing actively on the island and many took part in Nantucket Race Week. Notably, Conor Lynch and the crew of Siren won the prestigious Opera House Cup.

Club Treasurer Tara Berry has been a little closer to home in Croatia, where she’s been skippering yachts around the coast with Armada Week.

And finally, back home, Peter Williams took part in Calves Week this year. The event, hosted in Schull, had a record number of sign ups this year. Despite the increased competition , Peter’s boat Joyride had a strong event in the hotly contested class 0.

It’s been a busy summer for Trinity sailors around the globe, and we’re all excited to catch up and share all of our summer sailing experiences ⛵️ ⛵️

The Irish team are in Denmark for the Youth Match World Championship, with two Trinity Sailors selected. The 5 person team, containing Donal Walsh and Ciara McMahon will be one of 12 taking part in the event. Sailed in symmetrics Blu26s, the event seeks to find the nation with the best U23 match racers. Best of luck to Donal, Ciara and the entirety of team Ireland in the racing, which starts today, June 22nd and concludes on the 25th.

There will be three Trinity teams sailing at the prestigious George Invitational team racing event this weekend ⛵️⛵️⛵️ With 13 UK teams competing, it will be a great chance for the club to measure themselves against the best international teams, and have a final send off before the summer begins 🌍⬆️☀️ In addition to the above teams, Trevor Bolger and Conor Lynch will be competing with the Georgeous Gents and Becky Lowney will be sailing with the St Andrews College Alumni. Best of luck to all the Trinity Sailors competing🏆🥇🤞🍀

Follow that tune!🏆💪 D.U.S.C are back with a bang on the 28th as we face off against UCD in our annual Colours competition♠️❤️. The event will be raced in a round robin format with our firsts racing their firsts, our seconds racing their seconds and so on until a winner is crowned. Could a double repeat be in order?!😝🐦‍🔥 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪 Níl an bhliain chríochnaithe, cuirfear críoch lenár mbliain iontach le Colours in aghaidh UCD. Táimid tar éis iad a bhuaileadh gach uile t-am a rinneamar rás leo, ní dócha go mbeidh an comórtas seo difriúil ar bith. Fág trácht ar an bpostáil seo faoi Tim Norwood má tá tú fós ag léamh, i nGaeilge más féidir😝😝😝

I gcomhair seachtain na Gaeilge, beidh an chuid Gaeilge ar dtús inniu! 🇮🇪
An seachtain seo chaite ghlac ceathrar de D.U.S.C páirt i gcomórtas cáilithe IMRA i nDún Laoghaire. Bhí báid amháin go hiomlán D.U.S.C ⛵️⛵️ againn le Zoe Whitford, Conor Lynch agus Ella Dempsey, thairis sinn bhí Donal Walsh ar bháid Eile Ruairi Finnegan a bhuaigh an comórtas🏆. Chríochnaigh Zoe agus a foireann i gceathrú áit tar éis an chéad lá ach faraor, cailleadh a gcéad rás dé Domhnaigh agus ba ea sin ná críochnú a gcomórtas. Leann Ruairi Finnegan agus Donal Ar aghaidh agus bhuaigh siad an comórtas gan rás amháin a ligean uathu🐦‍🔥🐦‍🔥💪💪. As na céad 4 halmadóir, bhí beirt alumnais ó D.U.S.C le Ruairi agus Adam Leddy agus mac léinn amháin le Zoe. Comórtas eile den scoth i gcomhair DUSC is dócha!

Last weekend D.U.S.C had 4 current members competing in the IMRA match racing qualifier for nationals🪩. We had one full Trinity boat of Zoe Whitford, Conor Lynch 🏗️and Ella Dempsey as well as Donal Walsh on bow of alumni Ruairi Finnegans boat that ended up winning the competition outright. After day 1 Zoe and the crew ended the day with a strong 4th in a fleet of experienced match racers with Donal ending with an unbeaten 7 win record. The second day brought lighter airs which unfortunately saw our full D.U.S.C boat get eliminated. Donal carried the Trinity flame however and won the event, qualifying for nationals🧜‍♀️🧜‍♀️💃. Well done all!

TCD TAKE VARSITIES🐦‍🔥🐦‍🔥💃💃 One time felt so nice, we just had to do it twice🏆

After 3 days of intensely competitive racing, Trinity Sailing defended the IUSA varsities title in Carlingford💪💪. After two full round robins in varying conditions, the semi finals saw two competitive Trinity teams on either side of the semi finals bracket with both of them ending up wining their semis leading to a historic all Trinity final! For the first time in over 20 years, two (2!) teams from the same college faced off in the grand final of the competition with TCD 2 taking the win 3-2 against the reigning champs TCD 1. The winning team of Oisin Hughes, May McGlew, Rusell Bolger, Becky Lowney, Max Cantwell and Ciara Woodard raised the beautiful plate at the ball in Dundalk. 🏆🪩
Not only did Trinity take varsities but we also took home IUSA club of the year, an honor that was made possible by our wonderful committee and exec team without which the event couldn’t have happened.
Massive thanks and to and to and for all their continued support throughout the year.
This has truly been a record breaking year for DUSC, but believe you me we aren’t even close to done🧜‍♀️🧜‍♀️.
