📰 PARKS TENNIS WEXFORD MAKING THE NEWS!

Delighted to see this summer’s programme featured in the Irish Independent, with coach Peter Murphy speaking about the future of Irish tennis and his belief that a player could break into the world’s top 500 within the next ten years.

This summer, Parks Tennis ran across six locations in Wexford — Bree, Bunclody, Glynn Barntown, Piercestown, Enniscorthy, and Wexford Harbour Boat and Tennis Club — welcoming hundreds of children aged 6 to 16, many of whom had never picked up a racket before. Equipment was provided for any child who needed it, keeping the sport open and accessible to all.

Congratulations to Naqi Rizvi, newly crowned Blind Irish Open Champion and World No. 1, and to up-and-coming player Jonathan Winters, both recognised at this year’s prizegiving at WHBTC.

Thank you to Peter Murphy and Stephanie Durnin for organising such a wonderful summer, and to the Mayor of Wexford Cllr Vicky Barron and George Lawlor TD for joining us on finals day to celebrate the kids’ achievements.

Fantastic News for Jonathan, Congratulations!! and to think it all started with Parks Tennis Wexford at only 12!!!

🎉 Congratulations to Jonathan Winters on winning the Class 3/4 Men's Singles at the Wexford Senior Open on Monday! 🏆🎾

At just 17 years old, Jonathan claimed the title in his very first senior tournament – a fantastic achievement and one he should be incredibly proud of.

What makes this even more special for us is that Jonathan's tennis journey began with Parks Tennis when he was just 12 years old. From learning the fundamentals on our courts to competing and winning at senior level, he's a brilliant example of how a love for the game can grow with dedication, hard work and perseverance.

We're proud to have been part of the beginning of Jonathan's journey and can't wait to see what comes next.

Congratulations again, Jonathan – the future is bright! 👏🎾

We can't wait to see all our young players take to the courts for a day of fun, teamwork and fantastic tennis.

🎾 What a fantastic week at Clarinda Park, Dún Laoghaire!

From first serves to rallying with confidence, it was brilliant to see so many children enjoying tennis, making new friends and developing their skills in a fun and welcoming environment.

A huge thank you to all of the players, parents and coaches who made the week such a success. We loved every minute and can’t wait to see everyone back on court again soon!
