18th May 2025: Congratulations to Franklin on his incredible 20km Kish Lighthouse swims to Greystones!
This was Franklin’s third marathon swim and his first 20km swim and he absolutely smashed it. Just last month, he completed a 6-hour swim with infinity Channel Swimming in Carlingford Lough, so when I called him on Saturday to see if he was up for a swim the next day, he had no excuses.
We met at 13:00 and he was in the water by 15:00. He was brilliant throughout, and his feeder, Ger, was the perfect motivator. Franklin didn’t complain once, he kept his head down and got the job done.
The original plan was Kish to Bray (16km), but he was doing so well that I pushed him to go the full 20km, finishing in Greystones in 5 hours and 41 minutes.
He is now the 17th person to swim from Kish and the 10th to swim to Greystones.
