Howth Yacht Club One of Ireland’s premier sailing clubs located just 30 minutes from Dublin City in the village of Howth - hyc.ie

Howth Yacht Club originated as Howth Sailing Club in 1895. In 1968 Howth Sailing Club combined with Howth Motor Yacht Club, which had operated from the West Pier since 1935, to form Howth Yacht Club. The new clubhouse was opened in 1987 with further extensions carried out and more planned for the future. We cater for sailors of all ages and run sailing courses throughout the year as part of being an Irish Sailing Association accredited training facility. The club has a fully serviced marina with berthing for 250 yachts and we are delighted to be able to welcome visitors to this famous and scenic area of Dublin. New applications for membership are always welcome and can be accessed through our official website.

Howth Yacht Club came alive last Friday night with a take over of the Club by our junior sailors for their end of summer party. The night captured the fun, dedication and camaraderie of our junior cohort. Sailors from age 6 up to 17, across different junior classes, got together with our fantastic coaching team for a prizegiving, fun awards and DJ.

Well done to our Perpetual Cup Winners; Christine, Lily, Florence, Rory, Sophia and Willow, and all our other award winners. Many thanks to our stellar coaching team, encouraging parents, SDO Matthew, junior committee, and all our supporters at HYC who contributed to making 2026 one of our busiest and best summers yet. The Red Hoody Gang headed west last weekend to represent HYC at Galway Bay Sailing Club . Our 21 sailors put in fantastic performances across the weekend, tackling challenging conditions, making the most of the racing, and still finding time for plenty of laughs, dancing, and even a spot of dolphin watching!

A huge thank you to International Optimist Dinghy Association Ireland iodai and Galway Bay Sailing Club for another brilliant event. 🐬🔴⛵

Huge congratulations to our unstoppable HYC Junior Oppy Squad, who crushed it at the Irish Optimist Nationals! Taking on the rest of the country at the Royal Cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven, our young sailors gave it their all out on the water-showing incredible grit, and ultimate HYC team spirit.

There was brilliant representation from HYC across all fleets. A special shoutout to our youngest and bravest HYC Juniors who did us proud in the Regatta fleets, and massive congrats to our talented prizewinners.

Thanks to: our super coaches; Sorcha G O’C, Charlie K, Cillian T and our weather guru Andrew K, to the brilliant teams at Royal Cork Yacht Club and International Optimist Dinghy Association Ireland iodai for hosting such a fantastic event, and the very welcome support of Howth Yacht Club members.

Next up on the IODAI Calendar is the Connacht Championships with our friends at Galway Bay Sailing Club on September 12–13. And in the meantime the Covy Dinghy Regatta 2026 is on at HYC this coming Sunday. All are welcome!
