Howth Yacht Club

Howth Yacht Club One of Ireland’s premier sailing clubs located just 30 minutes from Dublin City in the village of Howth - hyc.ie

Howth Yacht Club originated as Howth Sailing Club in 1895. In 1968 Howth Sailing Club combined with Howth Motor Yacht Club, which had operated from the West Pier since 1935, to form Howth Yacht Club. The new clubhouse was opened in 1987 with further extensions carried out and more planned for the future. We cater for sailors of all ages and run sailing courses throughout the year as part of being

an Irish Sailing Association accredited training facility. The club has a fully serviced marina with berthing for 250 yachts and we are delighted to be able to welcome visitors to this famous and scenic area of Dublin. New applications for membership are always welcome and can be accessed through our official website.

A massive well done to our Junior Squad, who proudly represented HYC at the IODAI Munsters in Dunmore East over the weekend⛵️

Seventeen of our red-hoodie crew took to the waves in Waterford, gaining valuable racing experience and bringing home plenty of prizes (and a few crabs too🦀). They showed great determination, sportsmanship, and team spirit throughout the event and were fantastic ambassadors for the club. We couldn’t be prouder of their efforts!

Now it's our turn to host! The Optimist Leinsters are coming to HYC at the end of next month, contact [email protected] to see how you can get involved 💪🌊

Howth Yacht Club was delighted to host Sailing Into Wellness over the last few weeks as they brought their sailing programme to HYC, in partnership with Healthy Fingal

Sailing into Wellness is a not-for-profit that works with community groups and vulnerable or marginalised individuals to deliver therapeutic sailing programmes, exploring how the waves, wind and boat can help us better understand ourselves and harness our own strengths. HYC has been proud to support Sailing into Wellness since its early days. The programme offers participants an opportunity to build connections, learn new skills, develop confidence, and enjoy time on the water in a supportive environment.
It has been a pleasure to see programme coordinator Leonie Conway, the team, and graduates of the programme around the club and out on HYC’s club J80s, and we are honoured to play a small part in such a meaningful initiative.

We were also pleased to welcome Fingal Mayor, Councillor Tom O'Leary and Healthy Fingal Coordinator Niall McGuirk for the certificate presentation and afternoon tea with participants and representatives from the Drugs Task Force Services. During the ceremony, participants and course leaders reflected on their experiences throughout the programme and on the powerful lessons in self-awareness, resilience and teamwork that sailing can provide.

Congratulations to all of this year’s participants and thank you to everyone involved in continuing to make the programme such a success. ⛵️💙

It’s been a week since we got to experience another spectacular Lambay Races - 2026 was one for the books. Between the marvellous sun and the freshening wind, the last minute crew swaps and the close finishes, it was an excellent day on the water.

The Lambay Races would not be possible without the support of our wonderful sponsors and partners. A huge thank you to Watermark Coffee for their fantastic coffee machines, which kept crews, competitors, and organisers well caffeinated throughout the day. Thanks also to our prize partner, Rooster , for ensuring our winners received top-quality kit to celebrate their achievements, and to Fingal County Council for their continued support in helping events like these take place year after year.

A big shout out to our team of volunteers who support our events running smoothly and safely - we’re incredibly grateful. And of course a huge thank you to everyone who participated to make the 2026 Lambay Races such a memorable occasion. We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year.
