📣 Tug of War at the National Ploughing Championships 2026

Tug of War Ireland will be at the National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Tullamore on Wednesday the 16th of September 2026.

📍 Location: Block 3, Row 26 — just inside Gate 11
⚖️ Weigh-in: 12.00pm
💪 Pulling starts: 1.00pm

Competition classes:

• U23 – Six-a-Side
• 520kg – Six-a-Side
• Catchweight – Eight-a-Side

Teams wishing to compete should register in advance, with concessions available for competing pullers.

An update from the International Shoulder-Style Tug of War Championship conducted by the New York Social Club.

Team Ireland reached the final and finished as runners-up, which is a fantastic achievement for Irish tug of war on the international stage. 🇮🇪

Ireland also secured two individual awards:
🏅 Emmanuel – Best Front Puller
🏅 Reckson – Best 5th Position Puller

Congratulations to Team Ireland, the players, coaches and everyone involved. 🇮🇪👏

Just 1 Day to Go!

The countdown is almost over, and preparations are well underway!

Tomorrow marks the start of the 2026 British & Irish Outdoor Tug of War Championships, with registration and weigh-in taking place at the Talbot Hotel Cork, Ballincollig.

⚠️ Important Event Update

Please note the following changes to the published programme:

• There will be no weigh-in on Saturday morning.
• There will be no weigh-in on Sunday morning.
• Teams competing only on Sunday must attend the Saturday evening weigh-in, which will take place at the competition field (Arena) between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Please report to the Control Area.

🏆 Competition gets underway on Saturday morning at the Cork Showgrounds, where we'll welcome teams from England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales for a fantastic weekend of championship tug of war.

If you're attending the Championships, be sure to download the official event programme in advance to familiarise yourself with the weekend schedule.

Due to the high volume of accreditations still being received, we have decided to **extend the accreditation deadline until 12:00 noon tomorrow (Sunday) **.

If you have not yet completed your accreditation, please ensure it is submitted before the new deadline to allow the organising team to finalise competitor lists and complete the remaining preparations for the Championships.

With just over a week to go until the 2026 British & Irish Outdoor Tug of War Championships, we'd like to remind all competitors, coaches and officials of the final event deadlines.

⏰ Accreditation Deadline _______

Accreditations must be submitted no later than Saturday evening (1st of August).

This deadline allows the organising team time to finalise competitor lists, plan the competition schedule and complete the many administrative tasks required before the Championships begin.

The British & Irish Championships Gala Dinner is proving to be extremely popular, with a fantastic number of competitors, officials and supporters planning to attend.

The final deadline for Gala Dinner bookings and payments is 4:00pm on Tuesday next, 4th of August.

This deadline is firm, as final numbers must be provided to the hotel to allow preparations to be completed.

There are two ways to book:

✅ Book during accreditation (previous link) – if you have not yet submitted your accreditation, you can add one Gala Dinner booking for yourself as part of the accreditation process.
