With our 6th Year students coming to the end of their time in St Fintan’s High School, we wish to recognise the commitment and contributions of Brendan Dillon, Luca Macari-Kelly, Oisin Kelly, Michael Bolger, Tadg Young, Ben Barnes, Fionn MacDonald, Sam O’Leary, Fionn Heaney, Ruggero Mencarini and Conor Cogan over the course of their time in the school.

Some of this group were part of the team that qualified for the school’s first ever appearance in the Leinster Schools Junior Cup in 2022 where we reached the semi-finals and also secured the Fr. Godfrey Cup for the very first time. The following season, this group once again qualified for the Junior Cup, and made history by becoming the very first, and still the only, school to retain the Fr. Godfrey Cup to date.

They were also part of the teams that qualified for the Leinster Schools Senior Cup in 2024 and 2025, where we reached the semi-finals for the first time ever, becoming the first public school to do so since 1993. They backed this up by qualifying again in 2026, the first time the school had qualified for the Senior Cup in three successive years.

Not to mention their achievements of winning Senior Division 1B for the fourth time (2024), Junior Division 1B for the third time (2022) and winning the Leinster Schools Vinnie Murray Cup (2024) for the very first time, making a total of five winners medals collected by this group over their time in the school.

In addition we’d like to recognise Fionn Cullen, Frank Quinn, Cillian McLaughlin, Adam Coffey, James Nixon, Evan Coyne, Keith Bonar, Zach Newson and Alex Gallagher who all made notable contributions throughout the cycle. ⁣We wish all those above well, and have no doubt they’ll join other past pupils in representing Suttonians & Clontarf over the coming years! 🟥🟨

A huge congratulations to our twelve past and present students who played their part in Suttonians’ historic Metropolitan Cup win, the club’s first since 1947!

From Frank Keegan (2006) through to Michael Bolger and Oisín Kelly (2026), it’s incredibly special to see players spanning two decades lining out together. That connection is something the school takes immense pride in.

The bond between club and school has never been stronger.

Congratulations to past pupil Jack Aungier who is in line to earn his 100th cap for Connacht this weekend! Jack moved to Connacht from Leinster in 2020 and becomes just the 43rd player to reach this milestone for the province!

Jack’s career in professional rugby is an incredible example to our students and there’s much more to come from him in the years to come!
