Leitrim PPN

Leitrim PPN Leitrim PPN is a structure that brings together Community and Voluntary, Environmental and Social Inclusion groups in the local authority area.

Leitrim Public Participation Network (PPN) is an independent network of community, voluntary, social inclusion and environmental organisations, working to build a better county for the community of Leitrim. Leitrim PPN is a network that allows local authorities and other agencies to connect with community groups around the county. The purpose of the PPN is to allow these groups to give input and h

ave their voices heard within the formal decision-making structures of Leitrim County Council. Whenever the local authority needs people to participate in consultations or sit on the committees that form policies it will call on the PPN to select these people by holding elections from amongst its members. It does not cost anything to register with the PPN and we encourage all eligible voluntary, community and environmental groups to register. Who can join Leitrim PPN
To join the PPN, a group must:
• Be active in Leitrim County
• Have more than five (5) members
• Be non-party political and non-sectarian
• Have a minimum of six months in existence

The benefits of joining Leitrim PPN
• Valuable local and regional networking opportunities
• Greater access to regular community news and information through our social media & e bulletin
• The opportunity to advertise members activities via the PPN newsletter & social media
• Highlighting of Training and Funding opportunities, Consultations & Submissions
• Potential to influence policy making decisions relevant to County Leitrim
• Linkage Groups will be formed in 2023. Linkage Groups bring together organisations with a common interest
to discuss their views and interests in a specific policy area linked to Committee or Boards with PPN Representation. Each Member Group is encouraged to join one or more of the PPN’s Linkage Groups. Leitrim PPN is funded by the Department of Community and Rural Development and Leitrim County Council and hosted by Leitrim Development Company in Drumshanbo.

Leitrim PPN members have your say!

Cavernoma Ireland is a non-profit, voluntary support group.

They are dedicated to making a difference for people who are affected by cavernoma.

Cavernoma Ireland is marking June as Cavernoma Awareness Month, with an awareness campaign aimed at improving understanding of a rare condition affecting the brain and spinal cord and supporting individuals and families across Ireland.

A cavernoma is a cluster of abnormal blood vessels in the brain or spinal cord. These vessels are fragile and may leak or bleed, which can affect surrounding brain or spinal tissue and lead to neurological symptoms.

Symptoms can include seizures, headaches, bleeding (haemorrhage) from a cavernoma, weakness, numbness, tremors, speech and vision difficulties, fatigue, memory and concentration problems, and in some cases paralysis. The type, severity, and duration of symptoms vary significantly depending on the location of the cavernoma and the individual.

The genetic (familial) form of cavernoma is recognised as a rare disease, although the condition may also occur sporadically without any family history.

Cavernoma Ireland is a patient-led organisation that provides information, support, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by cavernoma across Ireland.
