On August 21st, 1917, Roscommon, on a voyage from Manchester to Australia with general cargo, was sunk by the German submarine U-53 (Hans Rose), 20 miles northeast of Tory Island off the North coast of Donegal, Ireland. There were no casualties.

Great to be back exploring this wrecks off the North Coast of Ireland this summer again a very slow start to the year!

Here is to more good weather days to get back and capture more of these amazing wrecks!

Weather day today and a chance to catch up on some photography editing... Back in the water tomorrow to dive HMT Justicia again!! Looking forward to getting a chance to do some more photogrammetry on the wreck if the weather plays ball.

After a weather day on Monday, we are back at it today with a visit to the iconic wreck of SS Empire Heritage with her cargo of Sherman tanks.

SS Empire Heritage was built in 1930 by Armstrong Whitworth & Co Ltd of Newcastle upon Tyne. 508´x 72.5´x 50.5´. She was built as the Tafelberg in 1930 for the Kerguelen Sealing & Whaling Co. Ltd., of Cape Town, South Africa. She was torpedoed on route from New York to Liverpool by German submarine U-482 with the loss of 113 lives when 15 miles North West of Malin Head. Carrying a cargo of 16,000 tons of fuel oil and 1,900 tons of deck cargo including Sherman Tanks.
