Spirit Award Story 2026 💙

Lucas took part in WAAR in memory of his uncle, David Magee. David competed in WAAR for many years and encouraged so many friends and family members to get involved along the way. WAAR was always a very special event that they all loved and looked forward to together.

Following David’s tragic passing last January 2025, Lucas wanted to honour his memory in a meaningful way. It had always been a dream for Lucas to take part in an adventure race alongside David and his daddy, but sadly that wasn’t meant to be.

Last year, Lucas was gifted David’s bike and felt that taking part in WAAR with his daddy was the perfect tribute to his inspiring uncle.

David truly embodied the spirit of WAAR 2026 and was an inspiration to everyone who knew him.

Huge congratulations to all competitors who took on our inaugural WAAR 10K Challenge along the world-famous Donegal Airport Runway & Wild Atlantic Way. 🌊✈️

👏 Big shout out to these 3 legends who worked tirelessly looking after all the wounded WAARiors at the finish line on Saturday! 💆‍♂️💆‍♀️🏃‍♂️

From tight legs and cramps to exhausted bodies after a massive day on the course, their help, care and support for competitors was hugely appreciated by everyone.

Events like WAAR simply couldn’t run without volunteers and professionals like these giving up their time and energy to help others recover after crossing the line. 🙌

Here’s a look back at the incredible Donegal Dancers ~ World Champions performing at the WAAR After Party & Prize Giving on Saturday night. The energy, talent and atmosphere in the room made for a fantastic night of entertainment enjoyed by everyone in attendance.
