Yesterday saw the final day of the 2021 October Cobbler league.
Between the tide and the breeze, the 16 sailors made short work of the journey to the racecourse on the Bank. Wind conditions were not as light as we've been accustomed to over the last few months, with strong lengthy gusts demanding optimum reserve, particularly from our Regatta fleet. The strong breeze prompted a couple of sailors to opt for the hospitality of the mother ship rather than take part in racing. Those who raced got good experience in challenging beats up the breeze as well as controlling their boats as they surfed and planed downwind. The wind strength was unrelenting and with a good race in the bag the league concluded, and it was back to shore for welcome hot chocolate.
Congratulations to the prizewinners:
In Senior Main fleet: Gold - Oisin Pierse 1st, Caoimhe Corkery 2nd and Isha Duggan 3rd. Silver - Ethel Bateman 1st and Fionn Hayes 2nd. Bronze - Clodagh Foster 1st and Rory Whyte (WHSC) 2nd.
In Junior Main fleet: Gold - Lucy Moynan 1st, Andrew O'Neill 2nd and Olin Bateman 3rd. Silver - Rian O'Neill 1st. Bronze - Eoin Pierse 1st and Oisin Martin 2nd.
In Regatta fleet: Kate Deane 1st, Tara Hayes 2nd and Clara Deane 3rd.
Well done to all the competitors, thank you to Rob and John, and thank you to the parents who supported the event over the 4 Sundays.

The October Cobbler league continued yesterday with 20 sailors competing on day 3 of the event. Competitor enthusiasm was high to start racing, as usual, and thank you to their, and the PRO's patience, as the course was set in contrary breeze. It was calm sailing weather, which, like last week, was ideal for less experienced sailors. Thank you to all the parents who provided support for the 3 competitive races. This Sunday is the final day of the League.
After racing, prize giving was held for the Burns League, the July/August Tuesday Leagues and the July/August Saturday Leagues.
Attached are the July/August results and photos of some of the prize winners across the 3 leagues, in alphabetical order.
