Pickleball has to be one of the best sports invented for the Irish climate. It is played on a badminton court with a tennis net and hard paddles. Every town and village in Ireland has a badminton court somewhere...a school gym, a community centre, a church hall. We want to get the entire nation playing Pickleball and it is suited to all ages, from national school kids to senior citizens. In the US

, the home of the sport, over 70% of those who play Pickleball are over 60, and yet it is being played in schools by kids under 10. So if you are interested in taking up a sport that could change your life, then get in touch through this page. We will find a way to demonstrate the sport to all interested parties. 📝 How it works

🇮🇪 Irish Open 2026 – Ballot Opening Soon
We’re excited to announce that entries for the Irish Open 2026 will open via a ballot system this year.
With the continued growth of pickleball and huge demand for places, the ballot ensures a fair opportunity for players across Ireland and internationally to take part in one of the biggest events on the calendar.
📅 Ballot Opens: 1 April
📅 Ballot Closes: 14 April
📩 Players notified by: 1 May
Players who are selected will receive a payment link to confirm their place, with 48 hours to secure their entry before places are offered to the next players in the ballot.
The Irish Open 2026 will take place at the Sport Ireland Indoor Arena, Dublin, featuring world-class indoor courts and an incredible tournament atmosphere.
You can enter the ballot with or without a partner, and partners can also enter separately to increase the chance of playing together.

Connacht Open - 18+ Weekend Registration Opens Monday 7pm

Hi everyone,

Registration for 18+ Weekend of the Connacht Open 2026 is opening tomorrow night at 7pm. Get your alarms set!

This weekend is dedicated to our 18+ divisions, with play taking place across two days:

Day 1 – Gender Doubles
Men’s and Women’s Doubles across the following categories:

-3.5
+3.5
+4.0 (X-40)
Day 2 – Mixed Doubles

-3.5
+3.5
+4.0 (X-40)
As always, places are limited and sections will close once full. If demand exceeds capacity, a waiting list will be open from 7pm on Monday evening (entries before that time will not be accepted).

The Connacht Open continues to grow each year, and we’re looking forward to another brilliant weekend of competitive, high-quality pickleball.

Official Ball
The Gamma Red Photon will be used for most divisions.

Exceptions:

18+ Gender Doubles +4.0
18+ Mixed Doubles +4.0
These divisions will use the Franklin X-40.

A reminder for players who have registered already for the 50+/60+ weekend -you are not permitted to enter:

Gender Doubles in two different age groups
Mixed Doubles in two different age groups
However, players may enter across categories, for example:

18+ Mixed Doubles and 50+ Men’s Doubles
50+ Men’s Doubles and 60+ Mixed Doubles (one per day)

Waiting lists are allocated strictly in order received. If a space becomes available:

You will have 48 hours to accept and complete payment.

Important Reminders
Registration is confirmed only once payment is completed.
Players must enter the correct age group and rating category. If you accidentally enter the wrong section - you will only be moved if there is space in the correct section and at the TD's discretion.
Refunds follow the published Pickleball Ireland policy.
The Tournament Director reserves the right to manage draws to ensure fairness and balance.
USAPA-approved paddles only.

Saturday: Gender Doubles (Men’s & Women’s)
Sunday: Mixed Doubles

✔ One event per day only
❌ Players may not enter Gender Doubles in two age groups across the 2 weekends
❌ Players may not enter Mixed Doubles in two age groups across the 2 weekend
✔ Players can enter across categories (e.g. 18+ Mixed & 50+ Men’s Doubles)
