We began this evening with our Club Matchplay Finals, where Len Downey successfully defended his title, securing back-to-back championships after a hard-fought battle with Ian McCarthy.

In the Plate Final, Stephen Conlon completed a superb double with a close victory over John Hurley.

The presentation of the President’s Prize, kindly supported by our President, Kevin Ryan, took place alongside the Matchplay awards. The results were as follows:

🚨 Important Notice to Members and Visitors 🚨

I would like to ask all members to remain vigilant when green fee players are on the course.

Last week, Ian McCarthy took time out of his practice round to repair a number of wedge marks and divots on the greens, including four on the front nine that appeared to have been left unrepaired. Eddie Delaney also spent time repairing pitch marks across the course.

It is extremely disappointing to see this happen, especially when Sean and his team work tirelessly to maintain the course in excellent condition for the benefit of all members and visitors.

As a reminder, please take a few seconds to repair your pitch marks, replace divots where appropriate, and treat the course with respect. These small actions make a significant difference to the quality and enjoyment of the course for everyone.

If any member witnesses deliberate damage to the greens or behaviour that shows a lack of respect for the course, please report it to a member of the committee immediately.

A sincere thank you to Ian and Eddie for taking the time to carry out these repairs, and thank you to all members who continue to take pride in our club and help maintain the high standards we all enjoy.

Please note that any person found deliberately causing damage to the course may face an immediate and permanent ban from the club. Where appropriate, incidents may also be reported to An Garda Síochána as criminal damage.

Wednesday until 5:30pm
Thursday until 5:30pm

Please note, the club matchplay is ongoing and starts at 18:00pm, course will be closed after 18:00pm until Thursday.

Great start to the Cork Strokeplay weekend for Bishopstown, with Alan O’Mahony coming out on top in the Junior Grade today! ⛳️

Alan capped off a brilliant display of pitch and putt with a fantastic final score of -11. Alan Abraham of Fermoy was hot on his heels in the final 18, producing another excellent performance throughout the day to finish runner-up on -7.

Congratulations to our own Alan on a well-deserved victory. Both players showcased a fantastic standard of pitch and putt throughout the competition.

To top off a successful day, the Bishopstown Junior Team also claimed the team title with a combined score of -2.

Paul Boreham finished on -1, Tim O’Connor added +7, and Alan O’Mahony contributed an outstanding -8 to secure the win. Congratulations to the lads on a superb team performance! ⛳️

A special mention also to Lesley Gilmore and Angela Royer, who represented Bishopstown in Collins today and put in excellent efforts in the Junior Grade. 🏌️

A huge thank you to the host clubs, Fermoy and Collins, for presenting their courses in outstanding condition. Both courses were absolutely immaculate and couldn’t have been any better, providing a fantastic test and an enjoyable experience for all competitors throughout the day. 👏⛳️

Well done to everyone involved, and best of luck to all our players for the remainder of the Cork Strokeplay weekend!

Big congratulations to Ciarán White on winning the Claycastle Intermediate Scratch Cup with a fantastic final-round 18 of -3! ⛳🏌️

Pictured alongside Claycastle Chairman Mick Sheehan, Ciarán capped off a superb day of competition with an outstanding performance.

Congratulations also to Claycastle Pitch and Putt Club as they celebrate their 40th Anniversary this year. A big thank you to everyone at the club for their warm hospitality and for presenting the course in such excellent condition today.

🏌️ HC Matchplay Draw

The draw for the Club HC Matchplay is now confirmed!⛳️🏌️

First-round matches may commence from Monday 8th, with tee times from 6:30pm onwards.

Please note that no practice is permitted after 5:00pm on the day of your match. Any practice after this time may result in disqualification 🤣

Competition Format

* All matches are played over 18 holes up to and including the Quarter Finals.
* Semi Finals will be played over 36 holes.

Please Note

* No matches may be played on Tuesday due to Summer Leagues.
* No matches may be played on Friday due to the Senior National Qualifier in Bishopstown.
* No matches may be played on Saturday due to the Cork Strokeplay.

After a fantastic weekend of Pitch and Putt, the National Matchplay has come to a close and what a weekend it was!

On behalf of Bishopstown Pitch and Putt Club, we would like to sincerely thank the Pitch and Putt Ireland for entrusting us with the hosting of such a prestigious event. Over the past 24 months, our team has worked tirelessly to present the course in the very best condition possible. Opportunities like this do not come around often, but we are ready and looking forward to the next time the PPI calls on us to host a major event. ⛳️

To all the players and supporters who turned out in great numbers throughout the weekend, thank you for your support. We hope you enjoyed the course and the atmosphere that made the event so special.

A special word of thanks must go to Paudie and Gary O’Sullivan. The work these two gentlemen do for the game is invaluable, and we are extremely grateful for everything they have done to help bring our course to the outstanding condition it was in this weekend.

Our Club Captain, Sean Looney, along with the support of our members, has also put in tremendous effort to bring the course to the high standard it enjoys today. Their dedication has not gone unnoticed.

Above all, congratulations to all of today’s winners in Rocklodge. There were some exceptional performances on display and the competition was a credit to everyone involved.

Bishopstown players were proudly represented throughout the weekend, and the club is immensely proud of the battles fought and the commitment shown by each of you. Congratulations to all who took part.

A reminder that play gets underway again tomorrow at 10:00am. Please allow extra travel time and keep an eye on traffic delays due to the Cork City Marathon.
