The Cork City Council have recently opened a new 39 room project providing afforadable, supported student accommodation for young people coming from care or a homeless situation. Bishopsgrove is managed by the Cork Foyer working in conjunction with Focus Ireland, Tusla Aftercare and Liberty Street. It is a way of diverting young people away from homeless services and encouraging them to participate with third level education by provide safe, secure and affordable accommodation.
An innovative housing project is breaking new ground by setting young people on the cusp of homelessness on a new trajectory towards third-level education. Health Correspondent Catherine Shanahan visited Cork’s 39-bed Bishopsgrove campus to see for herself.
