Ocean to City - An Rás Mór is Ireland’s flagship long-distance rowing and paddling race, proudly part of the Cork Harbour Festival - a celebration of Cork Harbour’s rich maritime heritage! Cork Harbour Festival is a week-long celebration of Ireland's unique maritime heritage, set in the second largest natural harbour in the world. Whether a visitor to the region or a native Corkonian, we invite you to experience the spectacular fleet of boats taking part in Ocean to City - An Rás Mór from the many vantage points along the harbour; taste from our seafood market; go crab fishing in Cobh; explore our many heritage sites; brave a guided ghostly trail; sail in the harbour or come for a kayak and discover Cork City from a different perspective. It attracts hundreds of participants from all over the world competing in everything from traditional wooden boats, currachs, gigs and longboats to Chinese dragon boats, kayaks and canoes. It is the largest event in Cork Harbour and a firm fixture on its cultural calendar. Founded in 2015, the festival celebrates Cork Harbour as a natural and cultural resource, with the communities and their stories at the heart of it. There are plenty of free family events happening throughout the festival. So, come and join us for a magical maritime week! Our sincere thanks go to Cork City Council, Cork County Council, Port of Cork and Fáilte Ireland without whose financial backing this festival would not be possible.

🏆 5 MILES FROM HOME 2026: FINAL RESULTS 🏆

Wowee, what an incredible 5 Miles From Home Challenge 2026!

A huge congratulations and thank you to all 800+ participants who helped make this year’s challenge such a success. From first-timers to seasoned crews, it was brilliant to have so many clubs and individuals from across the world coming together to take on the 2026 5MFH challenge.

A massive thank you also goes to the wonderful organisations who brought 5 Miles From Home 2026 together and kept it running smoothly:

Small break from the results posting! Just a reminder that you can switch to a land based option if you are struggling to find a weather window to complete your 5 miles. You can run, walk, jog, erg those 5 miles instead!

This years challenge kicks off from 3pm today.

Don't forget, you must start and finish your 5 miles in the one place so it must be a loop or an out and back course.
