Hi everyone, one of our members, Claire sadly lost her sister Eilis in 2024.
Ballinrobe GAA & LGFA are having a memorial tournament. I know when you've horses you probably don't have time for football so may not be able to attend but I just thought I'd share this incase anyone would like to donate to su***de bereavement liaison service. If you can't be there or donate on the day, you can do it online.
It looks like it will be a great day out ⚽️
And Éilis, Claire, their family & friends are always in our thoughts 👼🪽
⭐️ Éilis Maloney Memorial Tournament ⭐️
With just nine days to go to the inaugural Éilis Maloney Seven-a-Side Memorial Tournament, five teams have been confirmed, guaranteeing ten exciting games of football between rival local teams.
The five South Mayo teams – all of which have a connection with Éilis or the Maloney family – are Ballinrobe, Kilmaine, The Neale, Tourmakeady and Shrule-Glencorrib. All will play each other in the initial round of games with the top two going through to the final, which is scheduled for 1.40pm.
Ballinrobe LGFA Club Chairperson, Nicola Macken, is encouraging everyone to come along for what promises to be a special day for all the family.
“Éilis embodied everything that is good about football: highly competitive yet fair, a tough individual contributor and a complete team player. She also enjoyed her football, she knew how to have fun, both on the field and within the group.
“Saturday is about all of these things: high-quality, competitive football on the field and a sense of fun and friendship off it. It’s not just for members of Ballinrobe GAA & LGFA, it’s a family day and is open to the whole community right across South Mayo. Everyone is welcome,” said Nicola.
A full schedule for the day will be published next week.
Donations can be made on the day to Mayo Su***de Bereavement Liaison Service.
