All Ireland Scór Sinsir 2026
Connacht GAA proudly hosted the GAA All Ireland Scór Sinsir Finals 2026 in the TF Royal Hotel & Theatre, Castlebar just over a week ago, on Saturday 26th.
GAA clubs from all over the country descended upon the Mayo town, ensuring a packed TF auditorium was a melting pot of rivalry and pride. Setting a marvellous standard for all Connacht GAA, were the provinces’ first winners of the day, Bornacoola GAA Club , who emerged victorious in the Tráth na gCeist. The Leitrim champions answered steadily throughout the initial table quiz rounds and battled against Breadagh of Down and Edenderry from Offaly in the stage heat, to take the coveted national title for the third time in their history, their first since 2012. Well done to Elphin GAA and Castlebar Mitchels, who also represented Connacht in the Tráth na gCeist.
In Rince Foirne, St. St Marys GAA of Leitrim danced excellently and Óisín O'Donnell of Killala GAA sang with pride in the Amhránaíocht Aonair. Likewise, Ethan McNea from Achill GAA and Roscommon’s St Michaels GAA, turned in stellar performances in the Aithriseoireacht and Bailéad Ghrúpa respectively. In Nuachleas, Naomh Dominic of Roscommon ensured wonderful entertainment and this continued into the Ceol Uirlise, courtesy of Galway’s Corofin. While the titles eluded the above competitors, they can all be proud of the high standard they achieved for Connacht GAA on home turf.
However, all was not lost for the province, as the day ended as it had began with a sweet victory for the Set Dancers of CorofinGAA in the Rince Seit. Appearing in their second successive final and dancing the Cavan Reel, the Galway group tread the line between precision and abandon with class, and in doing so brought a second title in this discipline to their club, the last title coming 31 years ago in 1995.
A special word of tribute and appreciation must go to Marie Moran of Abbeyknockmoy Hurling Club who was Connacht GAA’s recipient of the Gradaim Fhadseirbhíse (Long Service Award). Marie is a stalwart of Scór in Galway and a former member of Connacht Scór. Her name is synonymous with the famed tradition of Set Dancing in Abbeyknockmoy. Marie has dedicated herself to the promotion of Scór over many years and her love of our culture has been to the benefit of so many through her coaching and administrative roles. Coiste Scór Chonnacht extend our congratulations to Marie, and to her children, Emmet and Emily, and we remember in a special way, her late husband, Martin, who passed away in November. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
Congratulations and well done also, to our committee member, Daithí Ó Gallchobhair, who did an outstanding job as Fear an Tí. Daithí ensured proceedings ran smoothly and represented both Mayo and Connacht GAA in a most exemplary fashion. Míle buíochas Daithí.
A huge word of thanks to Carmel and her team in the TF, for all of their help and support.
