The most capable person in every room is usually the least likely to be asked if they are okay
Because they always handle it
Always figure it out
“It just how they operate right?”
So no body REALLY checks
Because no one can outwardly see how full their glass actually is
The people I work with are the type of humans that can and will run through walls
They know what pushing through is like, it’s their default
They take ownership
They have willpower coming out of their veins
And what I’ve learned is that the cost of the capability doesn’t present itself as falling apart
It presents itself as lying awake stowing om@something they can’t switch off
Being short with people
Anger and resentment that builds but is never spoken
And then feeling guilty for feeling like that
If you’re there right now, most people will tell you “it’s about getting good at holding pressure”
Because apparently building capacity became about building more to hold more of what is already out of alignment to us
Right now you need space
And honesty
And someone to sit beside them to help them notice how full their glass is and help them unload what they no longer need to carry
