Clane made the trip to Edenderry on Monday night. Both teams started well and it was Clane who opened the scoring as Molly Nason received the ball from the impressive Dawn Murray on the edge of the box. She hit an unstoppable shot high over the Edenderry keeper. Clane got their 2nd after 16 minutes when Rebecca Devine hassled the Edenderry defensive to create a scoring chance which she took with a powerful shot past the keeper. Sarah Byrne and Heather Meagher were on top in the midfield and set up Nason for her 2nd. The Clane defence of Maria Healy' Katie Brennan' Tara Dunne & Dawn Murray were not in the mood to give anything away. After 35 minutes Sarah Byrne got on the score sheet with a low shot from outside the box. Anna Mooney and Ciara Smullen were tormenting the Edenderry full backs as they pinned them back from the start. It was the Clane keepers time to shine when after some good play down the right from Edenderry resulted in a shot which Sarah McNeil in the Clane goal made a great save just under the bar to keep the scoreline 0-4 at halftime.

Clane were out of the blocks right from the start of the second half when Ciara Smullen created a good chance for Devine to get her second. After 55 minutes the ever consistent Meagher made it 5. Devine got her hatrick after 59 minutes with a low shot to the bottom left hand corner. Nason was up for a hatrick aswell, finished the scoring with a great strike high into the net after 85 minutes. Claudia Nevin' Katelyn Dunne and Emily Bourdiol, coming off the bench throughout the 90mins, keeping the pressure on and creating chances for Clane.

WOMENS SHIELD SEMI FINAL

CLANE 7
KILDARE TOWN 0

Kildare Town travelled to Doctors Road for the Semi Final of the Shield, as Clane looked to make it to the final for the 2nd year in a row. Clane started well and after 4 mins gone a ball from Sarah Byrne to Rebecca Devine was despatched to the back of the net to make it 1-0. 25 minutes, a throw from Katelyn Dunne towards the box found Devine to get her second, 2-0. Kildare Town were defending well as Clane took plenty of shots but the keeper was up to the challenge.

The 2nd half began with Clane looking for their 3rd. In the 48th minute some great play from Heather Meagher and Molly Nason left Meagher to pull the ball back and pass to Devine to get her hat trick 3-0. Some good link up play between Devine and Nason resulted in Nason scoring the 4th. Clane started to empty the bench with, Ciara Smullen, and Dawn Murray coming on. After 60 minutes Nason scored a cracking goal to lob the keeper 5-0. Ciara Brown was unlucky not to score after she hit the cross bar, for Sarah byrne to follow up to score making it 6-0. Minute 69 and Devine finds the net for the fourth time on the night, 7-0.

Clane progress to the final with the win against a plucky Kildare side who played right to the end.
