Format
* The competition is an 18-hole Scotch Foursomes competition.
* Teams consist of one adult and one junior.
* The adult and junior do not need to be related or affiliated in any way.
* The junior must be under 18 years of age at the time of the competition.
* Male adults play from the white tees. Female adults play from the red tees.
* Juniors play from the yellow tees.

Handicap Allowance
* The team handicap will be 50% of the combined playing handicaps of the adult and junior yellow tee handicap.
* For those members without a handicap, adults will play off 18 and juniors will play off 18.
* The resulting team handicap will be applied to the team’s gross score to determine the net score.

Scotch Foursomes Format
* Both players tee off on every hole.
* The team selects which tee shot they wish to use.
* The player whose tee shot is not selected

As part of European Week of Sport, join our 6 week 'Intro to Golf' programme, perfect for beginners aged 55+! Learn the basics, build confidence and have fun in a supportive, relaxing setting.

Participants will develop fundamental golf skills, improve physical and mental wellbeing, meet new people and gain the confidence to continue playing golf long after the programme ends.

🏌️‍♀️ CHIP & CHAT COMES TO CAVAN GOLF CLUB! 🏌️‍♀️

We’re delighted to welcome Golf Ireland’s Chip & Chat to Cavan Golf Club on Thursday, September 17th from 6pm–8pm! ⛳️

Chip & Chat is Ireland’s first Women’s Social Golf Community, providing a fun, relaxed and welcoming space for women of all abilities to meet, socialise and enjoy golf.

The evening will take place at our Driving Range, with music, nibbles and our PGA Pro Pete Duignan on hand to help you get the most from your experience. 🎶🏌️‍♀️

Whether you’re new to golf or already love the game, this is a great opportunity to come along, meet new people and have some fun!

One of our Saturday morning staples is hosting the Breffni Blues, and it’s fantastic to see the group going from strength to strength, with growing participation, plenty of awards and even some gold medals at the recent Special Olympics! 🥇👏

🏆 WE HAVE A WINNER! 🏆

Congratulations to our 2026 Boys’ Scratch Cup Champion, Seán Óg Hanley! 🏌️‍♂️⛳️

What a final! 18 holes wasn’t enough to separate Seán Óg and his brother Cian, with the match going all the way to the 19th hole.

It was a downhill 20-foot putt that proved to be the difference, with Seán Óg holding his nerve to take the title! 🔥🏆

A fantastic match played in great spirit and to a very high standard. Well done to both boys — you did yourselves and the club proud. 👏👏

A huge well done also to everyone who took part in this year’s competition. It was brilliant to see such a great turnout and enthusiasm from the boys. We hope this is the beginning of many more competitions like this and that we can encourage even more of our juniors to get involved next time.
