With the seeding competitions now in the rear-view mirror, our Under 13s began their league campaign in earnest on Tuesday evening with a trip southside to face St. Michael's on their home patch.

Following their performances in the seeding rounds, our boys earned a place in Division 1, with some wondering whether life in the top tier might prove a bridge too far. If Tuesday night's display in Mahon is anything to go by, those fears can be firmly put to rest — this group looks ready to embrace the challenge.

The old saying goes that goals win games, and that certainly rang true here. Trailing by four points at the break, our lads emerged for the second half with renewed purpose. Then came the decisive moment: a blistering five-minute spell midway through the half that yielded two goals and a point, completely turning the contest on its head and swinging the momentum decisively our way.

Particularly pleasing was the spread of scores throughout the team, with no fewer than five different players finding the net. Cathal Walsh, Joe Foley, Isaac Collins, Finn Dunne and Sean Buckley all raised green flags in an impressive attacking display.

At the other end, a determined defensive performance laid the foundations for victory. Sean Docherty and Aaron O'Sullivan drove the team forward from the back, while Eoin Cashman at centre-back and Bobby O'Reilly at full-back were outstanding throughout, leading by example and standing firm whenever called upon.

A tremendous team effort from start to finish and a deserved victory. Congratulations to all involved — players and management alike — on a fantastic start to life in the fast lane of Division 1.

Congratulations to Cillian Manley of St. Colmcille's, who recently represented Cork on the U15 Football Development Squad in games against Clare and Mayo.

Cork football is very much on the rise, with our senior team reaching the All-Ireland quarter-final, the U17s progressing to the All-Ireland semi-final, and all of our development squads performing strongly.

It's fantastic to see players like Cillian involved at this level. The experience and exposure gained through these squads will undoubtedly benefit both Cillian and his St. Colmcille's teammates in the year ahead.

Well done, Cillian, and best of luck with the rest of the season!

Our Under 12s completed their grading leagues this week with a win over Lisgoold on Monday night. The boys finished both grading leagues undefeated and, all going well, should now progress to higher-level competition. Hopefully they can follow in the footsteps of our current Under 14s and 15s, and get up to the premier grades! That is for another day though!

Tonight though was all about a challenge game against Watergrasshill. Despite nine changes from Monday night's starting team, and after a shaky start, their unbeaten record never looked in jeopardy as they recorded a five-point victory against a very strong Watergrasshill side. Ultimately, it was a different group of players that got took centre stage tonight and they responded brilliantly....

Massive credit must go to the coaches of this group: Barry, Donal, Emmett and Ricky. I am not sure if this four ever stop...apart from all the training sessions, to kit-sponsorship to now organising more matches for the payers than the Rebel Og board themselves...and Ricky the ref (maybe not!)... fair play lads..incredible commitment to the group! its great to see the panel developing and the players are getting their just rewards for their efforts...

Well done to all the players and coaches on a fantastic week and an excellent season..... SO FAR!! Long way to go yet!

Junior A Football League Finalists on the Double...
Best wishes to Carraig na bhFear GAA and White's Cross GAA who are both contesting Junior A Football League Finals this Saturday evening. When the two clubs decided back in 2020 to recreate St. Colmcille's GAA, the independent teams at juvenile level, a primary metric of our success or otherwise was to be the number of players who would return to play at adult level with their respective home clubs. Between the two squads there are 28 players who have come through St. Colmcille's GAA in the past six years togging out today and that would be more only for lads travelling for the summer and injuries. Furthermore, with both Clubs fielding two Junior Football teams each, there are more lads on the second team panels playing for the Clubs that played with St. Colmcille's.
Carraig make the short journey to Glenville to take on Erin's Own for a 7pm throw in. Best wishes to Aaron R, Rory Mc, Tadhg O' D, Adam B, Evan F, Sean O' D, Colm M,, John B, Dylan F, Cian D, Alex F. and all the Carraig squad.
White's Cross take on Glanmire at 7.15pm in Ballinlough. Best wishes to Rory T, Aidan D, Senan R, PJ O' D, Ruairí Q, Conor D, Ronan H, Stephen W, James B, Daniel K, Seanie D, Luke K, Fionnan Q,, Luke M, Brendan Q, Evan Q, P Harrington and the rest of the White's Cross panel.
We are thrilled to see so many lads represnting their clubs at adult level and for the two clubs to be competing in finals. Beir bua Carraig na nhFear agus Crosaire an Fhaoitigh!

We in St. Colmcille's GAA say Slán to Darragh Moynihan, who has just finished a 15 week placement with us that commenced last January. Throughout that time he did two coaching sessions every week in each of the two primary schools - Scoil Naomh Micheál Upper Glanmire NS and Scoil an Athair Tadhg, Carraig na bhFear NS.
On top of that he also assisted with matches and after-school training at Coláiste an Chroí Naofa, Carraig na bhFear PPS.
This project, heading into it's third year in September, is led by St. Colmcille's and supported by Cork GAA. We are hugely appreciative of the support of Games Manager Niall Twomey and our own GDC Mick Hennessy - míle buíochas Lads.
With both Primary Schools competing in Sciath na Scoil finals this year (indeed Upper Glanmire are going for the double later this week) our coaching programme seems to be having a positive impact. Of course that is not to say that silver-ware is the primary metric of success - first and foremost it's about inclusion and fun for all participants.
Coláiste an Chroí Naofa also have had a fantastic year with the Minor Camogie team losing out in their County Final last week, bringing the curtains down on the season. The senior girls were also contesting finals while the boys Under 15 team won a Munster Football Championship and the Under 16 boys team a County Championship. Other finals were also contested - the Under 14.5 boys were most unlucky to lose their county final after extra-time, while the Under 15 hurlers came up short in their Munster Hurling Final when they were going for the double.
Thanks very much to Darragh for the energy, enthusiasm, knowledge, dependability and good humour he brought to this post - he was always very very prepared for his sessions. We wish him all the best in the final year of his Honours Degree in MTU and every success thereafter. Go raibh míle maith agat Darragh.

Congratulations to the second White's Cross Gaa football team on winning their league final on Sunday morning - lots of familiar faces to us in St. Colmcille's in Michelle Whooley Photographs great pictures. Thirteen members of the squad on duty yesterday played with us in St. Colmcille's. No doubt we will recognise many more names on the team-sheet for their first football team that have also qualified for their Junior A Football League final.
The name of the game for us in St. Colmcille's was always about bringing through lads from our teams back to play with their respective parent clubs in Carraig na bhFear GAA and White's Cross GAA.

Our Under 14 footballers made history on Friday night in securing a win in their championship, as they became the first team from St. Colmcille's GAA to win a match in the very top tier of championship competition in Cork. Eight teams from all of the entire county of Cork, split into two groups of four, compete in the Premier 1 U.14 championship and we are in that mix for the very first time! However not alone are we in the mix we are competing very admirably...
Last night's game against Ballincollig, played in a beautifully manicured Carraig na bhFear GAA Grounds , was our third and final group game in the competition. In previous rounds we had a draw with table-toppers Eire Óg, while Nemo Rangers defeated us, so we needed a win last night to be in with a chance of securing a top two position and a place in the championship semi-finals.
Our lads delivered a 5 star performance to do just that - a four goal haul from Charlie Cox left the Ballincollig defence deflated but in truth this result had as much to do with what went on in defence. Gearóid Hayes, Ruairí Harte, Bradley Roche, Danny Twomey, Corey Forde, Harry Varley, George O Connell and Padraig Tattan were all teak tough - some of the turnovers were an absolute joy to watch! At midfield the energy and constant running of Ayo Osonboyede and Joseph Crowley was something our southside opponents couldn't keep up with. Inside the interplay of forwards Cian Ramsell, Ronan Cunningham, Ross O Donovan, Ben Cashman, Patrick Ahern, Cooper Coleman, Rory Aherne and Oscar O Connell as well as the aforementioned Cox opened up our opponents rearguard time and again, leading to some really well-worked goals.
It's hugely satisfying to see our players pushing to be the best possible versions of themselves - something we aspire to do in St. Colmcille's with all our teams. Despite this there is many an occasion when you still won't get the performance you desire, but when it clicks as it did last night it's a joy to watch. Well done to the 20 players involved last night, to the rest of the panel for pushing these lads in training and to the team-management.
And so we march on to the Premier 1 championship semi-finals where ourselves and Eire Óg will meet the top two in the other group, where one game has still to be played before pairings can be confirmed.

Thanks very much to Sean McSweeney for the great action photos.

Our under 13 footballers completed their grading league against Midleton in the past week! While they were beaten on the night against a strong Midleton side, they played very well in parts and there is plenty to look forward to when the league starts proper in a few weeks!
