Mike has been a long time member of K3 Pro Fitness and an ambassador for Slieve Mish

Credit where credit is due. This was no "quick fix" by Mike, but instead, consistent training week in week out.

Not a short term plan and then he's "finished" but a way of life that has lead him to the results you see today.

Anyone that trains with Mike, knows not only will he always will challenge himself but a great team player also. When it comes to his strength and cycling programme - Consistency is key!👌

You have to establish a way of being consistent - whatever that looks like for you. If you can't repeat it over a long period of time, then you can't have long-term success; instead you'll get burned out or fail to follow through. If you try something and it doesn't work, that's ok. Try something else. Don't give up.

Consistency isn't just about repeating an action every day, but constantly working towards improving yourself and learning more about what works for you. Sometimes a strategy only works for a period of time and then we plateau, so while you have to be consistent in some areas, you also have to be willing to change things up in others.

Mike's goal was not to get "ripped", instead it was to get "better", in classes, in strength, in his sport and in life.

As a result of getting "better" Mike has gotten "ripped"!!!

⛓️⛓️⛓️ The K3 Strongman Sessions have been created with the aim of giving Men/Dads the means to reach the body they always wanted to have as well as to strengthen your state of mind.⁣

This Winter, for the next 10 weeks, each Thursday night at 8:30pm we will be running our K3 Strongman Sessions.⁣ ⚒️⚒️

The Strongman Sessions are a unique concept because each night, we offer you different training sessions, new features that will allow you to avoid getting into a routine and stay motivated.⁣

The goal of this platform is to give you all the keys for you to achieve your goals. The Strongman Sessions are for anybody from the beginner to the advanced.⁣ ⚔️

I want everyone to feel better in their bodies and to achieve their personal goals.⁣

The Strongman Sessions teach you to push past your limits both physically and mentally. Teaching us resilience in life and how to deal with pressure and most importantly, to believe in yourself. ⁣

You worked your ass off. Finally, finally, you're reaching big accomplishments. And the success? It tastes oh, so sweet. Except, of course, some people just want to rain on your parade.

They want to see you fail, they want to see you cheat on your healthy eating, they want you to miss a training session, you hear the classic line "you wouldn't want to lose any more weight" 🤦🏼‍♂️

As people, we generally look to others for a benchmark by which we can gauge our own success.
When you change the benchmark in such a way that you are now above where they are, they start questioning their own skills and abilities and feel like they've failed. This sense of inadequacy can be made even worse by the fear that, as you gradually make choices that create more distance, you'll leave them behind.

Some people who see you succeed will recognize all the tough stuff you probably went through to get where you are. They'll acknowledge that your success came with sacrifice--that they weren't willing to make. So they get upset with the choices they made, understanding that they could have stood where you are if they'd had a little more courage or perseverance. In a broader sense, they can get frustrated that they're stuck in a specific way of living that holds them back.

The best thing to do is shrug it off, don't let it get into your subconscious and just take it for what it is:
It's not jealousy or ill feeling, it's usually an inadequacy and the realisation that they have tried and couldn't do it themselves. It's not on you it's them.

How to start eating mindfully

The premise of mindful eating is pretty simple: Just pay attention to your food. As simple as that is, mindful eating is surprisingly difficult. You'll have to resist the lure of the quick feel-good hits your screens offer -- here are a few tips to get started.

‌Put your phone away and out of sight during meal times.

‌Eat in a room where there isn't a TV or a computer.

Focus on taste, texture and flavours of your food.

‌Slow down. Fully chew your food, and wait a few seconds before taking the next bite.

Enlist a friend to help out. Eat together, using only your conversation as entertainment.

At the end of the day, people do what makes them feel good. And if watching Netflix while you eat dinner makes you feel good, go for it!

Just make it a point to assess how you feel mentally and physically before, during and after meals. Food journaling can help immensely with this.

And if you aren't sure whether your current mealtime routine is affecting your health, try mindful eating to see how it feels.

Feeling a little like tossing the towel in on your diet plan? Whether this is because you just haven’t been able to follow the diet, you’re experiencing hunger like never before, or you just aren’t seeing as fast of results as you wanted, there are a few things to remember that may make you change your mind.

Dieting is hard. There’s no denying that. But with these in mind, it can feel easier.

Hunger Is Natural And Normal

Feeling hungry? Don’t sweat it. While feeling intense hunger pains you can barely tolerate are not a good sign, some hunger is normal and to be expected.

Relax if you feel this. No one ever died from a little hunger. As long as your diet is set-up well, this shouldn’t be an issue.

The Right Diet For You Is Out There

If you’re struggling with your diet plan, it may not mean you need to give up, but rather, find a new diet.

Everyone is unique in how their body responds to certain diets. The trick is finding one that you respond to well. Keep going until you find the right diet.

Nothing Good Comes Easy

You didn’t gain the weight overnight and you won’t lose it overnight either. No, it won’t be easy and yes it takes work. The sooner you accept this and expect it, the sooner you’ll see results.

It Won’t Be This Way Forever

If a hard day has you down, realize it won’t be like this forever. Eventually, if you keep going, you will reach the end point and at this time, you can add food back in.

You should still continue to eat healthy, but the cravings and hunger will pass. This is only temporary.

Nutrition Is 80% Of The Weight Loss Game

If you’re tempted to give up and just focus on fitness, you may want to rethink that. While exercise is definitely a key part of the equation, diet really does account for up to 80% of the results you see.

It is critical that you eat right if you hope to manage your body weight.

Effort Is What Counts

Finally, remember that your effort is really what counts most. While always staying on track is nice, don’t expect perfection. Expect effort.

When is this day they are talking about going to come?

You see, there is an enormous difference between saying that you will eventually come around and finish a task, one that will lead you closer to your goal, and actually doing this.

It’s the main difference between ONE DAY, meaning that you are delaying your goals and dreams, and DAY ONE, indicating that you are already working on something.

Exercising for weight loss turns it into a chore⁣:
By choosing exercise purely as a means to reach a weight loss goal, it becomes a chore: something you have no choice but to do. I believe exercise and activity should be fun, because when you find a way to move that you enjoy you’re far more likely to stick at it long term. Long term exercise is going to offer huge benefits to your health, perhaps even more than losing a few pounds anyway.⁣

Exercise is not the most efficient way to lose weight⁣:
Weight loss happens when you burn more calories than you take in. Irrelevant of what the dieting industry inwould have you believe, there are no magic potions and pills and shakes: it’s all about calories in vs calories out. Burning calories through exercise is a) hard, requiring significant prolonged effort to burn anywhere near enough calories and b) an inaccurate science; no matter what your fancy smartwatch tells you, you probably didn’t burn anywhere near what you think you did the last time you got your sweat on.⁣

Exercise is only responsible for a tiny amount of calorie expenditure⁣:
Physical activity is only responsible for a comparatively miniscule amount of calorie burn and actual exercise is a smaller component of that.⁣

Exercise can increase muscle mass, affecting the numbers⁣:
Continued consistent exercise will likely change your muscle mass, especially in those new to an exercise or previously under active. This can cause the numbers on the scale to go up before they go down, which can be demotivating. Demotivation can cause people to stop activity participation, or worse, binge eating etc.

Exercise is so much more important than weight loss alone⁣:
Exercise is important what ever your size and end goal, and should be encouraged in everyone. Regular activity improves your sleep, your concentration, your happiness levels, your s*x drive, your likelihood of living into old age, your immune system, your energy levels, your skin, your body composition, your ability to deal with stress and your posture. It reduces your risk of diabetes and heart disease, helps alleviate anxiety, strengthens your bones, and just generally improves your quality of life.
