Our article from today’s Avondhu

As a long-standing club member, Declan felt it was time to give our flags a fresh new look. Working alongside Lorna and TH Flags, they came up with our fantastic new flags, generously sponsored by The Avondhu. Keeping things a little patriotic, the design incorporates the Castlelyons green and gold, and we couldn't be happier with the result.

We're incredibly grateful to The Avondhu for their support and absolutely delighted with the difference the flags have made. They really complement all the hard work that has gone into the course over three Monday work evenings, where a dedicated group rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into weeding, scrubbing, strimming, painting and watering. As always, the finishing touch was gathering in the clubhouse afterwards, enjoying the usual banter over a well-earned cuppa.

A huge thank you, as always, to everyone who helps look after the course. We're a small club powered by volunteers with huge hearts, whose dedication keeps the course looking its best and ensures a warm welcome for everyone who visits and uses it.

Right – time for a rant!

We are a very small club with a handful of fantastic volunteers who give up their time to maintain and improve our course for everyone to enjoy.

Today, the greens were cut and the volunteer responsible finished at 4:30pm. By 6:00pm, another volunteer arrived to find one of the greens damaged from club use.

PLEASE DO NOT USE CLUBS ON THE GREENS.

The work our volunteers do can be undone in minutes, and it’s incredibly disheartening for those who give their time freely to keep the course in top condition.

While we’re at it…

If you choose to bring food or drinks onto the course, please take your rubbish home with you.

Bring it. Bin it. Respect the course.

Let’s all do our bit to look after the facilities and support the volunteers who work so hard behind the scenes.
