Rebel Og East Under 18 Division 2 Football Championship Final
Castlelyons played Carrigtwohill in Lisgoold today in this final. After a great effort we were eventually beaten by six points. Well done to all the lads and we have the county minor hurling final to come. We wish Carrigtwohill the best of luck in their bid for the county football title

Rebel Óg ETB Under 18 Division 2 Football Championship Final.
This game is down for Lisgoold at 11.30am tomorrow Sunday 4.10.26. Carrig are a strong outfit. But our lads will take heart from their recent good form including defeating St Catherines in the hurling final last Sunday. Castlelyons defeat Bride Rovers in East Cork Junior B Semi -Final.
Castlelyons 0-12 Bride Rovers 0-13.
Our Junior B had a well merited win over Bride Rovers in this game at Lisgoold today. The local derby atmosphere was certainly evident as both teams went hell for leather at times. We led 0-5 to 0-3 after 15 minutes as our backs were doing well and then great scores from Brian O’Donovan, Darren Tobin, Adam Lardner help stretch it out to 0-11 to 0-6 at half as we led 0-11 to 0-6. That said we should have been more ahead, but our shooting was a little off target.
We started the second half with some mighty hurling as Liam Moroney fielded well and laid off to Robbie Feeney for a point. Then Dylan Leetch on the run put over a great point. However, the game toughened up a good bit and Rovers came right back into it as Shane O’Dowd outstanding from frees all day sent over three or four unanswered points. It was getting a little anxious for us. Our backs with Conor McCarthy, Stephen Griffey, Stephen Casey and the lads done very well under pressure while Cees Kowenberg was prepared to run with the ball from midfield. The game got a little messy towards the end as both teams conceded needless frees. Overall, it was a good win but bearing in mind that this was Bride Rovers third team there could be a stiffer test in the final as we await the winners of Midleton versus Youghal who play their semi final on the 17.10.26. Well done lads.

Castlelyons and Bride Rovers Set for Local Derby Semi-Final
The Castlelyons Junior B hurlers face a major test this Saturday when they take on Bride Rovers in the East Cork Oil Junior B Hurling Championship semi-final at Lisgoold. There is a local derby atmosphere guaranteed when these two clubs meet, and with a place in the championship final at stake, both sides will be determined to go hell for leather.
Castlelyons have enjoyed an excellent championship campaign to date, winning all three of their group games and showing plenty of encouraging form along the way. They are a committed outfit and will be hoping to carry their form into this demanding semi-final. Rebel Óg East Under-18 Division 2 Section 2 Hurling Championship Final: Castlelyons 4-17 St Catherines 2-17

Castlelyons are through to the county final following an impressive victory over a gallant St Catherines side in a thrilling East Cork derby at Glenville. Played before a huge crowd in glorious weather, this was a fitting occasion for a championship final, with both sides giving everything in a keenly contested encounter.

Congratulations to our Castlelyons lads on a superb performance and a well-deserved victory. St Catherines played their part in an entertaining and competitive game, but ultimately it was Castlelyons' ability to find the net that proved decisive. Goals win games, and Castlelyons registered four on the day — a crucial contribution that helped them secure a six-point victory on a scoreline of 4-17 to 2-17.

There is now another big challenge ahead as Castlelyons progress to the county final, with the young team having earned their place on the biggest stage after an excellent championship campaign.

Rebel Og North Under12 Football League Group 4 Section 1 Phase 2 Final
Castlelyons 6-5 Mitchelstown 0-9.
Great win for our U12s in this game in Doneraile on Saturday. We started well against a strong Mitchelstown team. Darragh McCarthy landed in a high free that went all the way to the Town net and set us on our way. Charlie White was very good in goal as Mitchelstown pressed hard. Rian Fitzgerald was just mighty all through the game at midfield and Cian O’Donovan likewise in the forwards. But reviewing our team they all played very well at different times as they were all heroes. Mason White cleared an amount of ball and Liam Cashman while conceding on height held his own well at full back. Darragh Wallace and Owen Rumley scored great goals towards the end to put a shine on the score. Comhghairdeas and well done lads and to the management also.
Next up it’s the Rebel Og East Cork ETB Under 12 Hurling Group 3 Section2 Cup Final versus Fr O’Neills for these lads on Sunday 3rd October at 2.30pm in Mayfield. I like their attitude and commitment of this young academy of players as there are so many ‘green shoots’ giving us confidence for the future. A local derby is in store at Glenville on Sunday afternoon as Castlelyons and St Catherine’s meet in the Rebel Óg East Under-18 Division 2 Section 2 Hurling Championship Final. The clash is sure to attract a large crowd, with supporters likely to put the Sunday dinner on hold for the afternoon for what promises to be an exciting encounter.

Both teams have enjoyed strong campaigns and know each other well. Their group-stage meeting in Ballynoe in July was a cracking contest, featuring stylish hurling, excellent striking, some hard and uncompromising exchanges, and a number of intriguing individual match-ups.

St Catherine’s came through a tough East semi-final against Ballygiblin, doing enough to secure their place in the decider. Castlelyons, meanwhile, produced a comprehensive performance at home to overcome St Colmcilles, the amalgamation of Whites Cross and Carrignavar.

Castlelyons have plenty to be confident about. The team has been a very honest and hard-working group throughout the year, with every player contributing and training consistently under a committed management team. John O’Neill, Thomas McAuliffe, Ronan Hickey, Sam McCarthy and Ciarán Murphy will be among those looked to for leadership as Castlelyons bid to take the next step.

St Catherine’s are equally well balanced and have plenty of quality throughout their ranks. The O’Donoghue brothers, Shane and Kyle, the Walsh brothers Sean and Tadhg, and Alan Cotter are among the players who will be expected to make their mark.

With a place in the county final awaiting the winners, there is plenty at stake for both sides. Given the quality and competitiveness on show when these teams met earlier in the championship, supporters can expect another entertaining battle on Sunday. Your support would be greatly appreciated by our team and management and would mean a lot to the lads.

Castlelyons head to Carraig na bhFear on Saturday evening for the semi-final of the Michael O’Connor Motor Factors East Cork Junior B Football Championship, where they face Glenville at 5pm.

Castlelyons finished the group stage with one victory from three games, defeating Cobh but suffering defeats to Ballinacurra and Glenbower Rovers. There was plenty of encouragement in those performances, however, and with a little more luck, better concentration and greater accuracy in front of goal, the results could have been different.

The team has had to contend with a number of injuries, while some players are now returning from hurling duties. The opportunity for some additional training will also stand to the squad ahead of Saturday’s important encounter. Glenville also come into the semi-final with one group-stage victory, having defeated Ballinacurra. They will have the advantage of being a strong footballing club and can be expected to be fully focused on securing a place in the final.

With both sides having plenty to play for, an entertaining and competitive game is in prospect. Best of luck to our players and management.
