Huge congratulations to MSB U18 athlete Mia Brett who has taken the Scottish U18 400m national title at her Ireland Debut today 🎉 in Aberdeen, Scotland .

It was a huge honour for Mia to be selected for the Irish U18 team where she gained her first international vest.

She is thrilled to have delivered a strong performance at a difficult time of year to keep good form, from a challenging lane 7 and in windy conditions to take the Scottish U18 400m national title.

Congratulations to her coaches Ruth Moloney, Gavin Howlin and their team of sprint coaches for helping Mia prepare for this championship and for supporting her on her athletic development journey over the past number of years.

Thanks also to Mark Connolly, head of Juvenile Athletics, Athletics Ireland and his team of coaches who have managed this magnificent international experience for young athletes.

💚💙 Massive congratulations to the MSB Women’s Team! 💙💚

A fantastic effort from the team today in Santry, finishing a very competitive 4th place in the Division 1 League Final. 👏🏃‍♀️

After a long and demanding season, reaching today’s final was a brilliant achievement in itself, and the team can be incredibly proud of the commitment, determination and team spirit they have shown throughout the campaign.

A particular mention for Team Captain Rebecca Ward, who did a tremendous job rallying the team and leading them into today’s final. 👏

4th in Division 1 is a fantastic result and a wonderful reflection of the hard work put in by every member of the team. Well done also to every who competed in the preliminary rounds. You have represented MSB with great pride and done the club proud! 💚💙

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ National Outdoor Masters Championships 2026 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

The National Outdoor Masters Championships took place over the weekend at Morton Stadium, Santry, with warm but windy conditions making for a challenging weekend of competition. A strong headwind down the home straight made things particularly tough for the sprinters, with most races being run into a negative wind.

MSB were proudly represented by nine Masters athletes across 17 events, with some fantastic performances and plenty of medals to show for it. 👏

🌟 Weekend highlights

Keith Young completed a brilliant middle-distance double, taking gold in both the M45 1500m (4:15) and 800m (2:08). The 800m was particularly exciting, with Keith producing a spectacular sprint finish to take the title.

Geraldine O’Keeffe also had an outstanding championships, winning a medal of each colour across the 100m, 200m and 400m, including gold in the F45 400m (64s).

Day 2 of the Senior National Championships saw similar windy weather, but that didn’t deter the huge crowds out to watch all the action.

Six of our athletes took part, with the first three in the 100m, which had just shy of 100 starters over 19 heats.

Brothers Nkem and Chib Onwumereh, along with Samuel Ayeni, ran some excellent heats with times of 10.93s, 11.43s and 10.99s respectively. Nkem and Samuel made it through to the semi-finals, with Nkem running 10.98s and Samuel 11.03s, which wasn’t quite enough to make the final.

Our current 10,000m senior champion, David Troy, was up next in the 5000m, but it wasn’t his day and he had to pull up after a couple of kilometres.

Finn Woodger was up next in the 800m final. With Cian McPhillips and Cillian Kirwan pulling away early on, it was a race for bronze for the remaining pack, with Finn falling just 0.14 of a second off the podium after a sprint finish in a time of 1:51.19.

Louie Woodger was last up in the final televised race of the day in a stacked 1500m race. Louie kept up with the pack right until the last 150 metres and came over the line in an excellent 10th place and a fantastic time of 3:49.06.

Another great Senior National Championships for MSB, with athletes in 11 individual events and one relay, with a gold medal ( took place in early July), two 5th places and one 10th place. 👏👏👏💚💙

Day 1 of the Senior Nationals took place today at Morton Stadium, Santry. It was a blustery day, making conditions a little more difficult, especially for the sprinters.

MSB had four individuals and one relay team make it to the start line.

Both Rebecca Ward and Mia Brett ran well in their respective 200m heats. Rebecca, in Heat 3, came 4th in 26.05s (-0.6m/s), while Mia also came 4th in Heat 4 in 25.91s, despite running into a strong -2.8m/s headwind.

Finn Woodger was up next in one of the five 800m heats. Qualification was tough, with only the heat winner and the next five fastest athletes progressing. Finn pushed the pace and, despite finishing second, was the second-fastest non-automatic qualifier for Sunday’s final. Aoife Brown was next in the 800m and has been steadily improving her times over the last week. She ran a good heat and clocked a time of 2:14.47 coming 6th in Heat 1.

Louie Woodger had an even tougher qualification process in the 1500m, with only the top three from each of the four heats qualifying. Keeping himself in contention in an incrementally faster race, he managed to kick hard over the final 200m to take 3rd place and qualify for tomorrow’s final.

Last up was our men’s 4x100m relay team, consisting of Nkem Onwumereh, Chib Onwumereh, Henry Todd and Samuel Ayeni. They kept themselves right in contention, crossing the line in 5th place, just a couple of tenths off the podium. Their time of 42.49s, we think, must be a club record!

It’s Day 2 tomorrow, with more MSB athletes competing, so either get out to the stadium, watch online, or tune in to RTÉ from 6pm. 💚💙Report: Mark Woodger

A handful of our MSB athletes were out in Santry over the weekend at the Combined Events and AAI games.

Only one of our athletes took to the line in the combined events; rapidly improving Julia Barciszyn, Julia was tenths of a second/centimetres off the podium finishing in 4th place after 5 events in the U15 girls pentathlon. She accumulated 2605 points just 4 points off the Bronze. After an excellent opening 80m hurdles, Julia’s best event was the High Jump where she jumped 1.58m to take joint top points with that leap.

In the AAI games on Sunday, MSB had several senior athletes take to the line in a competition which is good preparation for the Senior Nationals next weekend.

Brothers Nkem and Chib Onwumereh took part in the 100m race series with Nkem clocking 10.90s and 10.96s to come 4th and third respectively in the A series.

In the B series, Chib ran 11.53s and 11.27s to come 5th and 4th in his races.

Mia Brett put in a strong performance to finish 4th in the women’s 400m in 57.03, while Rebecca Ward finished strongly in her 200m race, clocking 25.45. Oisín Dunne had a fantastic PB of 4:06.59 in the second 1500m race.

Louie Woodger ran a superb 1500m race to take the win, outsprinting the pack in the final 100m in 3:56.21.

Day 3 of the National Juvenile Championships in Tullamore saw 16 MSB juveniles compete across 17 events, proudly representing the club on the national stage.

Once again, our athletes delivered outstanding performances, bringing home an incredible 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals, along with several excellent top-four finishes.

🏆 What a way to finish the Outdoor Juvenile National Championships! 🏆

On the final day in Tullamore, 10 MSB relay teams took to the track and delivered an incredible set of performances.

Fantastic performances from all the teams, with pretty much every relay improving on their Dublin Championship times – proof that all the baton change practice had paid off!

A special mention goes to our U13 Boys 4x100m team, who turned their Dublin bronze into National Gold, improving their time by almost 2 seconds (over 3%) – an outstanding achievement!
