A final farewell from the Pedalling Pair 🚴🏻🚴🏻‍♀️

Now that we’re home and the last couple of weeks have had a chance to sink in, we want to take this opportunity to share one last message with you all…

Over the last couple of months, and particularly the last couple of weeks, we have been blown away by all of your support, kindness and good wishes. A massive thank you to all who donated, messaged, hosted, visited and cycled with us during our trip.

We are thrilled to have raised over €7000 for Jigsaw. Your generosity and our (surprisingly) resilient legs have helped make a positive contribution to the mental health of Ireland’s young people.

We made it!!! 🚴🏻‍♀️🚴🏻

Against all odds, we reached Mizen Head this afternoon! Although it was tempting to cycle home 😉, Paul & Ronan strapped up our bikes in the back of the jeep and we will greet them back home in Monaghan (I’m sure the bikes were as delighted to reach Mizen as ourselves ) 🚴🏻‍♀️🚴🏻

Looking forward to the celebrations in Cork this evening! (minus the dancing) 💃🏻

It was a pleasure to bump into Fee Benning] yesterday in Tralee! Fee is cycling all around Ireland, following the coast on her way home to Germany in aid of the World Bicycle Relief. It is amazing to meet such ambitious and equally “crazy” people on our journey!

As we head into the last few days of our Malin to Mizen cycle, we want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us so far! We are delighted to have raised over €5000 for Jigsaw. Every donation, no matter the amount will make a huge difference to help break the stigma around mental health in Ireland and provide continuous support for those in need 💛

The messages, good wishes, useful tips (and the odd pint) we have received over the last two weeks have helped us get through the tough days and we are so grateful to each and every one of you. Pedal with Positivity 🚴🚴‍♀️

Things don’t always run smoothly on a day’s cycle 🥴

You could be caught in a rainstorm, get a puncture in a small village, lose a pedal on the final stretch to Galway, get the most unflattering tan line, be caught in miles upon miles of gruesome hills in the Burren (during the hottest day of the year) and cycle up to the Cliffs of Moher to see only glimpses of the fantastic cliffs through a sea of mist.

Day 9 and 10 reminded us of how important it is to remain positive. Even when everything goes array, things always seem to work themselves out in the end (in Sinead’s case, because of a lovely gentlemen who stopped to fix her puncture).

Pedal with Perseverance 🚴🏻🚴🏻‍♀️

On day 8, ourselves and Sinéad set sail for the beautiful Connemara. The heat, hills and our (haggard) hamstrings made for one of our toughest cycles to date.

Although it was a demanding 90km journey, we took pleasure in the stunning views and friendly people along the route!

Words of wisdom from The Pedalling Pair: If you ever feel like abandoning sheep, take this as a little reminder to keep on pedalling 💫

It meant so much to us that so many of you made the trip over to the West. Pedal with a Puncture 🚴🏻🚴🏻‍♀️

On day 4, we encountered some mechanical difficulties. On the last leg of our journey, Mícheál’s tyre was feeling a little “deflated”.

With the help of two fabulous friends, two tubes, two spoons and a few G&T’s, we were ready to hit the road for day 5.

A massive thank you to Mary & PJ for being the finest hosts in Co. Mayo and doubling up as a bike repair shop. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without you.

Now that our tyre’s are pumped, and our puncture repair skills are somewhat adequate, we were ready for our trip to Westport. 🚴🏻‍♀️🚴🏻

Day 2 🚴🚴‍♀️

It was an early start this morning as we left Strabane and headed for the hills of Donegal. A lovely spell of weather and a little coffee pit stop in Ballybofey helped us tackle the last couple of kilometres head on and made for an enjoyable spin into Donegal town!

High off the fumes of Deep Heat and the delight that we haven’t fallen out yet, we’re off for a well-deserved pint with the lovely Donegal native
