It was smiles all round last night for our ladies team as they got another win in their 2026 Division 3 League Campaign. The ladies got off to a strong start and 2-04 on the score board before Dundalk Young Irelands got the ball over the bar. Once they did, the opposition scored four points without reply as the game headed towards half time.
However Stabannon were not going to rest on their laurels before the half time whistle went and with Sophie Smith and Ciara McMahon on fire in the forwards the home side responded with 2 goals and a point to leave it 4-06 to 0-04 at half time.

The second half started as the first half ended with Stabannon dominating and again Sophie and Ciara were on hand to register the first two points of the first half for Stabannon. Dundalk Young Irelands went on the attack again and scored two goals and two points and Stabannon once again responded with a series of goals and points from players across the field with substitutes Ellen Brady and Lauren Shevlin making their mark on the scorebaord. The game finished on a scoreline of:
Stabannon 6-14
Dundalk Young Irelands 2-06

While Stabannon were comfortable winners in the end, it was a tough game that saw players, management and referees get used to the new rules in ladies football.

Overall the management team of Gary Loughran and Bronagh McGrane will be happy with Stabannon's performance which now sees them sit second in the table. Stabannon are second on the table alongside neighbours Glyde Rangers who they play next week, a game that is crucial to both teams.

Scorers for Stabannon last night included Aishling Gormley, Ciara McMahon, Emma Kearney, Sophie Smith, Danielle Sharkey, Lauren Shevlin and Ellen Brady.

Next week Stabannon play Glyde Rangers on Friday night in Stabannon at 8pm, a game that is sure to be one of the season so far. See you all there.

Juvenile Update ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›

It has been a busy week for our young players in Stabannon!

Last week, our U9s welcomed Kilkerley Emmets to Stabannon for a fantastic game. Despite the challenging weather conditions, both teams showed great determination, skill, and sportsmanship throughout.

Yesterday, it was the turn of our U8s, who hosted a blitz in Stabannon. Once again, the weather tested everyone, but the young players put on a brilliant display of skill, enthusiasm, and teamwork.

This evening, our U10s were also in action, playing three excellent games against Mattock Rangers, the Nics, and the Blues. There were some fantastic skills on display, with great teamwork, effort, and determination shown by all the players throughout the evening.

A huge well done to all the children who took part over the past week. It is wonderful to see their confidence and skills continuing to grow with every game. Keep up the excellent work! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›
