Happy Pancake Tuesday everyone! Today we can happily munch as we all get out tomorrow to work off todays treats! The virtual circuit will kick off in Manorhamilton Tennis Club travelling through all Connacht clubs in a full 530km loop. As the day progresses we will update you on how many collective kms we have walked/ran. We will also be introducing you to each of our clubs along the way throughout the day. So walk or run as much as you like throughout the day (within the 5km and guidelines!), share some pics on here and lets have a happy healthy Wednesday! Guidedog kilometers count too!! You can do your kms at any time of the day or night, in one go or a few mini walks, whatever suits you! WALK ON WEDNESDAY - please share! On Feb 17th we are encouraging all our club members to get out and walk/run within your 5km! Just for fun (and to get us fit for play whenever that may be) we are aiming to walk/run as one big team from our northernmost club Manorhamilton Tennis Club through each of the other clubs in a full 530km circuit, in one day! As we get to each club we will learn a little about them and their members. It would be great if all participants could upload some pictures/videos from within your own 5k or messages of support for eachother here on the day! To join us simply download the free strava app and join our club https://www.strava.com/clubs/connachttennis Then on the day make sure you register your walk/run's as a run which will then automatically add to our group total. If you cannot download the app please send your kms to [email protected]

Just a reminder to the grown ups: Your club officials and committee members are volunteers, they did not sign up for this!! Please have respect for your fellow members, club officials and committee members and do not put anyone in a position where they have to ask you to not break government guidelines. We didnt make the rules, but we all have a duty to follow them for everyone's sake. Stay tuned for some fun stuff for the grown ups next week!! Wimbledon here we come!!! 🎾🎾🎾

Playing Tennis During COVID-19 - Level 5

The movement to Level 5 will have a significant impact on all activities in all clubs in the Republic of Ireland.
The main implications of Level 5 include the following:
Facilities should close with exceptions for:
- Structured outdoor coaching and training for school aged players under the supervision of a Designated Coach.
- Training for High Performance/Professional players

The restrictions mean that no other activities other than the exceptions outlined above can take place while Level 5 is active.

The protocols for clubs during Level 5 can be found below:
https://www.tennisireland.ie/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/TI-Clubs_Level-5-Protocols.pdf

We are aware some clubs are running mid-term camps next week. Guidelines for running safe tennis camps during COVID-19 can be found here:
https://www.tennisireland.ie/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Running-Safe-Tennis-Camps-during-Covid19-1.pdf

These should be utilized in conjunction with the Level 5 Protocols.
