The Galway Junior 500 concluded today, delivering good quality tennis despite a smaller field. The weather was memorably extreme—scorching sunshine, with bursts of thunder and lightning and some rain in the mix.

Highlights from Galway LTC: Maya Baranouskaya triumphed for Galway LTC in the U14 Girls Singles defeating Clontarf's Anna McGuire. Galway LTC player Liam Cupitt and Bartek Karolczyk edged out Oisin Barry and Jack Renton in a high-quality doubles final. In the Boys U14 Singles Final, Oisin Barry held his nerve to defeat Bartek 7-6, 7-5 in an all-Castlebar affair. Michael Wilkinson (Carrickmines) , the number 1 seed, defeated fellow Dubliner Sam Cahillane (Donnybrook) in the Boys Singles U12 Final. Matthew Thompson (Crosshaven) lived up to his top seeding with a clinical win over Conor Emerson (Sandycove) in the BS16 final. Connacht player Laura Emerson (Sandycove) claimed the Girls 16/18 Singles title, going one step further than her brother. Rushbrooke's Cate Gilroy finished a close runner up. The BS18 final was a tight battle between Munster’s Donncha Cronin (Dromahane) and Donnybrook’s Tommy Healy, decided by a 10/6 championship tiebreak. Notable plate winners included Bailey Garvey (BS12 Plate), Evyn Madden (BS18 Plate), Charlie Joyce (BS16 Plate)and Liam Cupitt (BS14 Plate).

What a fantastic day at the 2026 Connacht Spring League Finals! The weather matched the tennis, delivering brilliant matches, fierce competition, and incredible sportsmanship across the courts. A huge thank you to every player and captain for your hard work over the past couple of months.

U14 Boys Final:    Timothée Long edged Conor Kelly to take the title. 

U12/14 Girls Final: Alison Leonard clinched the title in a tight, thrilling final against Galway sparring partner Ciara Ní Ghallchóir

U12 Boys Final: 

Seán Regan didn’t put a foot wrong in the final, delivering a very solid performance against Liam Kovac.

Great tennis weekend in Castlebar TC & Westport TC! 🏆🎾

Excellent tennis across all ages in the 65–80 Interpros, with a huge thanks to Westport TC and Castlebar TC for hosting—outstanding work by both clubs. Congratulations to all provinces, with a special shoutout to all the age-group winners. It was a nail-biting finish: Ulster and Leinster tied on 22 points each, with three age groups won by each. Munster finished on 17 points and Connacht on 9.

Massive appreciation to everyone who volunteered and contributed to a hugely successful competition. Until next time! 👏👏

Tennis Connacht Primary Schools Team Competition – Mid-June

We’re excited to announce the Tennis Connacht Primary Schools Team Competition, scheduled for mid-June. We’re running two divisions to suit all levels:

Beginner Division:** For students who may play tennis only once a week.
Intermediate/Advanced Division:** For players who train regularly and compete outside their club.

Target group: Students in 4th, 5th, and 6th class.
