Environmental stewardship remains an important part of our club activities. During their Sunday morning dive, two members recovered a discarded ghost shrimp net & released the marine life trapped inside. Judging by its condition, the net had been lost for quite some time. As it was unmarked and unbuoyed it was removed from the seabed for safe disposal. Footage of the recovery is attached.

Sheephaven SAC members were out in force on Sunday morning at a sunny, though breezy, Portnablagh.
Snorkel training has stepped up a gear as anticipation builds for our annual Burtonport to Arranmore Fin Swim. Following last week's successful "Try-a-Snorkel" session, Áine returned for another outing and appears to have well and truly caught the sea bug, much to the delight of her mum, Donna.
Our newest trainee, Noelle, completed the impressive snorkel out to "Willie's Point" under the watchful eye of club PRO Rosanna. Meanwhile, some of our more experienced snorkellers extended their session even further, making their way around the point to Killahoey Beach before returning.
The diving group also enjoyed excellent conditions, with crystal-clear visibility and water temperatures averaging a pleasant 13°C. Divers completed dives of between 35 and 40 minutes and, like the snorkellers, reported an abundance of marine life throughout the bay. Spider crabs were particularly plentiful and provided an impressive spectacle beneath the surface.

Crew on tour this morning, excited to be taking Ciara and Deirdre back out to sea. Marine life galore, spider crabs, starfish, urchins, po***ck, and tiny purple jellyfish. Calm sea + superb visibality = 10/10 across the board.🤿
