What a beautiful day. I think Spring is in the air. Just spent the afternoon planting a forest. 30 native Irish trees now in the ground and will hopefully grow into a beautiful area in the future.

Being exposed to plants decreases levels of the stress hormone Cortisol, decreases resting heart rate and also decreases blood pressure. It's nature's "natural" remedy.

Research shows that contact with nature has shown to reduce stress and improve sleep - reducing the reliance on medication.

A Healing view
Just looking at nature can be hugely beneficial. Did you know that hospital patients who could view the outdoors through a window recovered from surgery faster than those who did not? Just think of the health benefits of surrounding yourself, and your family, with nature.

Here's a nice piece I found.

The glory of gardening hands in the dirt,
head in the sun,
heart with nature.
To nurture a garden
is to feed not just the body,
but the soul.

A big thank you to Martin Russell who came to rotavate the field during the week. Pure gentleman. Next stage, marking out the allotements and plant a few wild flower seeds. "Earth Day" is on 22nd of April which is a Wednesday but hopefully on Sunday 26th we'll plant a few of the first trees to mark that occasion. If families or individuals would like to bring a tree of their own choice to plant, to mark as their own or of a loved one please let me know. Please let others know who are not on facebook.

Hi folks. Does anyone know a man with a tractor and cultivator to do a bit of rotavating.

A great day was had yesterday the 15th March 2015. "The breaking of the Sod" took place with two beautiful plough horses owned by Noel and Gene Hand. A huge thanks to the boys who arrived at 10.30am and worked the land until nearly 6pm. The day was finished off with a good old roast beef dinner thanks to master chef Connolly. A huge thanks also to my two beautiful daughters who baked lovely homemade buns and scones with yummy jam and cream that went down to treat for all. Thanks to all those who came and enjoyed the day.
