💛 Every year, the Carrick Camino brings our community together — and every year, we’re so grateful for the people who help make the day possible. 🥾

A heartfelt thank you to An Garda Síochána Sligo/Leitrim 🚓🙏 for their fantastic support at this year’s Carrick Camino.

From helping our walkers safely across busy and tricky roads, managing traffic when needed, and sharing their invaluable advice and guidance, their professionalism, patience and dedication helped make the day a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Our Gardaí work tirelessly every day to keep our communities safe, and we truly appreciate the time and care they give to supporting events like ours. Their presence along the route made a huge difference and gave our walkers peace of mind every step of the way. 💛

Thank you for looking after our walkers and helping everyone get safely from start to finish. We couldn’t do it without you! 👏🥾🚓

A Word for Jim Glancy 🚐🥾
Every gang has the one fella who is quietly getting everything sorted while everyone else is wondering what’s going on… and for Carrick Camino, that man is Jim Glancy! 😂
Jim is one of those people who rarely gets a mention but is always there and always ready to lend a hand. Transporting gear, moving things around, collecting the mucky boots that have been swapped for the clean ones, and generally sorting whatever needs sorting.
And then there’s the van… sure, you’d nearly expect to see Mr. T and the rest of the A-Team jumping out of it! 🚐😂
If someone gets into bother along the route, Jim is on it — a lift to the nearest rest stop, a spin to the finish, whatever is needed. No fuss, no drama, just “leave it with me.”
And that’s Jim all over. Reliable as they come.
So, thanks a million Jim, for all the time, effort and commitment you put into Carrick Camino. A huge amount of work happens behind the scenes, and you’re a big part of keeping the whole thing ticking along.
And when he’s not rescuing Camino walkers, Jim is busy running Glancys Bar & Glancys Accommodation here in Carrick-on-Shannon — a proper local institution with over 120 years of family hospitality behind it.
So if you’re coming back to Carrick, or bringing a gang with you, give Glancy’s a shout. Groups big or small are well looked after.

💚 Another huge Carrick Camino thank you goes to Seamus Gibbons and all the team at Electric Bike Trails in Leitrim Village 🚴‍♂️⚡ for their fantastic support of Carrick Camino this year and every year! 👣
While our walkers were busy clocking up the 34km, Seamus and his team were helping behind the scenes and doing their bit to keep everything running smoothly. Their support, good humour and wonderful community spirit are very much appreciated. 🙌
And if walking 34km has you thinking “surely there must be an easier way?” 😄 — Electric Bike Trails has you covered! ⚡🚲
For anyone planning to explore beautiful Leitrim, Electric Bike Trails offers e-bikes and traditional bike hire, making it a brilliant way to discover the Shannon Blueway, Lough Key Forest & Activity Park and the many scenic routes and hidden gems around our county. 🌿💦

Year after year, as our Carrick Camino walkers make their way through Arigna, there’s one familiar pit stop that has become part of the Camino tradition — The Miners Bar 🍻🥾
It’s the place where tired legs get a rest, thirsty walkers get revived, and a “quick stop” can somehow turn into a much longer one! 😂
As our walkers tackled this year’s 34km adventure, they passed through Arigna and its incredible mining heritage. The mines may be part of history, but the community spirit, stories and warm welcome are still very much alive. ❤️
The 2026 route took walkers through the spectacular Arigna Mountains and along sections of the Miners Way, before continuing towards Lough Allen, Drumshanbo, Leitrim Village and eventually Carrick-on-Shannon.
By then, there were probably a few wondering why 34km had ever seemed like a good idea! 😂🥾
That’s where places like The Miners Bar come into their own — a friendly welcome, good craic and perhaps the temptation of “just one more…” ☕️😉
So, from everyone involved in Carrick Camino 2026, a massive THANK YOU to The Miners Bar, Arigna, for your continued support and for being part of our Camino story year after year. 🙏❤️

🍦 A little scoop of energy goes a long way! 🍦
We’ve been hearing it from our walkers all along the trail — there’s something about reaching almost to the end of a 34 km walk and being handed an ice cream that suddenly makes the legs feel just a little less tired! 😂
A huge and heartfelt (and very sweet!) thank you to Eileen Costello for coming back year after year to support the Carrick Camino and for giving our walkers that much-needed boost at her fantastic ice cream and goodie stop.
Rain or shine, Eileen is there with a smile, a treat and, most importantly, a reason to keep going. ☔🍦😊 We’ve had such wonderful feedback from our walkers, and it’s safe to say that Eileen’s stop has become a much-loved highlight of the Camino.
After 34 km, we’re not sure whether it was the ice cream, the goodies or simply the sight of Eileen that gave everyone the energy to finish — but we’re certainly not going to argue with the results! 😄🚶♀️🚶♂️
A special thank you also to the team at Costello Auto Trans for supporting Eileen and the Camino. The Costello family are well known for looking after people — whether it’s getting you where you need to go or getting you through the final few kilometres with an ice cream in hand! 🚗🍦
And of course, the family also run Koya Motors, Carrick-on-Shannon’s destination for quality imported cars from the UK and Japan. 🇮🇪🇬🇧🇯🇵
Thank you, Eileen, for once again adding such a memorable, cheerful and delicious stop to this year’s Carrick Camino. ❤️
You’ve proved that sometimes the best way to recharge after 34 km isn’t a sports drink… it’s a 99! 🍦😂

💙 A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR CIVIL DEFENCE TEAMS! 💙

One of the most important parts of making Carrick Camino happen is making sure our walkers are safe, and we simply couldn't do it without the incredible volunteers from Civil Defence. 👏🥾

From before sunrise and throughout the day, these dedicated volunteers were out along our 34km route, giving their time, supporting walkers and being there whenever they were needed.

A massive thank you to Roscommon Civil Defence, and to their neighbouring units from Mayo and Longford Civil Defence, who joined them and provided invaluable support. 🙌

To every volunteer who got up early, travelled to their posts, gave up their time and helped make sure hundreds of walkers could enjoy their day safely — we are truly grateful. ❤️

Thank you for your time, dedication and for being such an important part of the Carrick Camino team. 💙

A huge thank you from all of us at Carrick Camino for your continued support in helping make Carrick Camino happen.

Leitrim County Council plays a huge part behind the scenes, helping with the coordination of the event and providing barriers and practical support to keep everything running safely and smoothly.

And a big thank you also goes to Leitrim Tourism for helping us promote Carrick Camino and spread the word, encouraging walkers from near and far to come and experience our beautiful county. 🌿

Hopefully you’ve all recovered by now from 34km of walking, as we continue our thank-yous to the fantastic supporters who help make Carrick Camino happen.
Today, it’s a big thank you to Taylor Cleaning – one of our returning Camino supporters and, importantly, another one of those “man with the van” people we can always count on! 🚐👏
When something needs to be collected, delivered, moved or brought from A to B, you can usually count on Taylor Cleaning to be there. From moving supplies and equipment to wherever they’re needed, to helping out behind the scenes – they’re very much a hands-on part of making the Camino happen.
And when they’re not helping us move things around, they’re busy keeping homes, businesses and premises spotless. 🧽✨ From carpets and floors to windows, ceilings and everything in between, they know how to make a place shine.
Thankfully, they’re also much better at cleaning up than some of us were at keeping ourselves clean after 34km! 😅
We’re delighted to have Taylor Cleaning supporting Carrick Camino again this year, and we really appreciate all the help, hard work and good humour they bring along with them.
