Huge congratulations to our Carmel Lynch Award 2026 winner, Rónán Brennan 🎉👏
Named in honour of our former Director of Sport, Carmel Lynch—who dedicated 32 years to developing sport, student life, and the vibrant clubs & societies culture we know today—this prestigious award recognises a student who embodies her spirit of commitment, leadership, and generosity.
This year’s recipient, Science Society President Rónán Brennan, truly exemplifies these values. A final-year Applied Science student, Rónán has shown outstanding leadership, building strong connections across campus and creating meaningful opportunities for student engagement.
From pioneering a multi-society event that brought students together (and ensured international students felt part of festive celebrations), to organising industry guest speakers that support career development—his impact has been felt far and wide.
A dedicated Peer Mentor for the past three years, Rónán has consistently supported fellow students with warmth and enthusiasm, especially during first-year orientation. He’s always ready to help, whether on campus or in the wider community—volunteering at events like the Annual Easter Party for Senior Citizens and teaching Irish dancing locally.
Rónán was also awarded a Gold SETU President’s Volunteer Award in 2025 and continues to give back through initiatives like his charity quiz night supporting the Irish Kidney Association 💙
