A evening of 3 seasons in one on Monday the 30th of May as Carlow GAA hosted their Puc Fada competition on Mt. Leinster.
Senior men, ladies and U-16 boys and girls competition were held to find a winner to represent the county in the Leinster competition in the near future.
The senior group was first to start on what was a pleasant evening starting off and the competitors were striking into the wind and up hill too. Just after the U-16 started the rain came in and it resembled a winters evening as the wind also picked up which made it very difficult for those striking, spotting and marking scores.
As the senior groups reached the top of the hill at the Cairn the rain stopped and we were treated to some bright sunshine. The senior group travelled further over the Leinster final course while the U -16 turned back down the hill to the finish line.
Our third seasonal evening arrived with the wind returning and a lot colder this time round but thankfully it was in the competitors back as they returned homeward.
With the hill and wind the ball was travelling a lot further on the way back and some lucky bounces were appreciated as the ball rolled up to 100m on some strikes
At the end of the evening we had 4 winners
Senior men Kevin McDonald MLR
Senior Ladies Tracey McNally
U-16 boys Fionn O Brien MLR
U -16 Girls Sarah Sheehan
All 4 will represent Carlow on the 25th of June over the same course on Mt Leinster
The late Lester Ryan would have been proud of the competition organisers in particular Ger Lennon and PJ Fox for hosting this event so successfully

Carlow 2022 Celtic Challenge squad had a final coaching session on Saturday morning the 14th of May when the squad gathered in Netwatch Training.
Coaches used this final session to give out the jerseys to the players involved with the squad over the past 4 months.
These lads have been together for 4 months and competed in the the annual Celtic Challenge competition.
It was decided to draw numbers for the jerseys as the fairest way to give out the numbered jerseys
With only one goalie jerseys and two goalies on the squad there was a great display of sportsmanship when by one of the goalies who suggested that the other goalie take the jersey and this shows the true meaning on fair play and team spirit with in this squad.
We would like to thank Joe Nolan, Liam Doyle lead coaches and Stephen Bamberick and David Barco who assisted on game days
