Received this photo today from cornamucklaghhouse stating a daytime closure of the Fathom Line for a number of weeks. This surely means that the temporary detour around the Narrow Water Bridge works using the main road from Carlingford to Victoria Lock will no longer be possible

Adding a bit of detail about The Carlingford Lough Greenway blockage at Narrow Water Bridge for cyclists.

Coming from Omeath, if you turn right on to the L70541 heading down towards the shore, you would then turn left at the junction. Here is a sign that tells you it’s blocked 650 mtrs further on.

If you want to make it to Victoria Lock, the only option is the main road for 3km. Turn left at the junction with the L70541 and in about 200 mtrs you reach the main road and turn right, rejoining the Greenway at Victoria Lock.

If you’re coming from Newry, there’s a sign at Victoria Lock that tells you the Greenway is blocked 2.4km further on. Again, if you want to get to Omeath or Carlingford, you have to use the road for 3km and rejoin by turning left at the L70541 and then right back on the the path of the Greenway.

As for pedestrians, well there are no pavements !

The news we thought was coming but didn’t want to see - will not be operating in 2026. No more hopping over to Greencastle and Cranfield Beach, no more ‘Le Tour du Lough’ or Carlingford Lough Loop Sportive organised by . It’s sad because it was such a great service and run extremely well. Thanks for the years you gave us and fingers crossed for future years
