In order to fly legally in Ireland you need an Exemption issued by the Irish Aviation Authority, or to fly under supervision of an approved flying instructor.

1. Exemption:
To apply for an exemption in Ireland, you need the following:
An acceptable qualification or ‘rating’..submit satisfactory evidence to the Authority of approved or accepted training completed in any State or completed with a

n aviation association holding a recognition from any State.. This is the proof of training required by the IAA.

2. A Class 2 Medical certificate. This can be obtained through any AME ( Aero Medical Examiner) lists are included in the link section. This can Cost between €100 and €190 depending on where you go for the examination. Subsequent tests can be cheaper, and a test is required every two years normally, or every year in the case of over 50’s or in cases where there might be a particular medical condition.

Paramotor Training Restart – February 2026

We’ll be recommencing paramotor training at Paramotor Ireland in mid-February, operating from a new, central Ireland training location.

This move puts us in a far better position operationally and opens up strong prospects for the 2026 season in terms of availability, conditions, and overall training quality.

We’re genuinely excited about what’s ahead and looking forward to getting pilots trained and back in the air.
